Sleepless night

I had the most awful nightmare last night, about Boyfriend.  I dreamt I
heard the screech of brakes outside, and then a car speeding away.  I went
out of the front door and found Boyfriend on the pavement (sidewalk)
thrashing around with an obviously broken back.  I gently picked him up, and
I knew it was the end for him.
I was so shocked that I woke up immediately.  As soon as I woke up I told
myself not to worry, that it wasn't real, but that didn't stop me getting up
and going downstairs to see if he was in the house, safe.  It was 4.30 a.m.
He wasn't in.
I went outside then, to see if I could see his body on the pavement.  Of
course not, nothing there at all.
I didn't go to sleep again, and got up for work at 7, very tired.
Boyfriend opened the lounge door (he's good at that) so he could come
upstairs and watch me in the bathroom.  He really likes that, but only to
watch from the landing, he doesn't come in the bathroom.
I was so pleased to see him that I fully understand parents who say "if you
ever go missing, I'll kill you!"
He's absolutely fine.
Right down the garden, on the path, this morning, was some tufts of fur and
a wild rabbit's front leg.  Perhaps that's what he was doing when I was
looking for him and perhaps that's why he didn't care about eating his
breakfast.
If so, that will be his first rabbit.  If not, it was the fox - but they
usually eat everything.  Cats leave bits when they've had enough.

Oh, how horrible.  I had a bad dream last night too.  I dreamed my bed was
actually at my desk at work and that my boss said I couldn't go home or take
any vacation - I guess my subconscious is telling me to slack off a bit.  I
woke up with a cold or the flu or something, so I stayed home from work, but
I'm at my computer monitoring my email and working from home (OK, I only
have myself to blame!).

Hugs,

What a horrifically realistic nightmare.  I'm so glad he's safe and sound.

Dreams.  After my beautiful Calvin passed away last year I was
heartbroken.  Then I had this awesomly real dream  where he was waiting
for me upstairs in the bedroom in a patch of sun, fit and fine.  I
picked him up and held him and felt his warmth, buried my face in his
fur and breathed in the scent of him, looked deep into his green
eyes...hugged him long and hard and then let him go.  And I knew I
would see him again, that he had come briefly to comfort me.  PatM

Oh my! I had a bad dream about our kids too! They were running out the
door, trying to get out. I was struggling trying to keep them indoors,
but Luna (I think) managed to get out. I was so worried!!!
Anybody else had bad dreams last night?

Lately, life with Tanada has been a bad dream.  I don't think she's
going to let me live down f*rt*ng on her any time soon.

I dont have many bad dreams but I do seem to be working in most of my dreams
if not at some job I worked at before retirement, then I'm doing someones
housework ,I'd like to know why I'm always working! No wonder I always wake
up tired. But the other dreams are that I'm  traveling  on planes or trains
or driving or on holiday the other night I woke up in the middle of a
beautiful dream, too long to tell.I was in a plane again though.  Jean.P.

I have all sorts of dreams, but I typically only dream of work when I've been
doing too much of it!  If there's a deadline looming, I'll dream about working
toward it.

If I could only somehow apply the energy I apply in my work-dreams to my
actual work, I'd be all set!

I dream about working too.  But the odd thing is my old office is usually
located in a shopping center or a school.  And the dreams are stressful
because no matter how hard I try I can't seem to get to my department to do
my job.  Either the elevators and stairs won't go to that floor or I just
plain can't find it.  And I was dreaming these dreams long before I lost my
job.

My common sense tells me these are typical "anxiety" dreams, threatening the
things we care about.  I've had them since I was a child.
I did think after the Boyfriend dream and finding him quite safe in the
morning that my mind would give up on it.  Not so.
Last night it was Kitty's turn.  I dreamt I got up in the morning and Kitty
was not there, which isn't like her at all in the winter ;-)
I went outside to call her.  Somehow it was different outside, both the
garden and house were different, but yet I still knew it was where we lived.
Very weird.
I gave the whistle I use to call Boyfriend in, Kitty knows it too - but
she's hardly ever outside this weather ;-)
A cat appeared.  It was a solid tabby cat and I did not know it.  Then a
ginger and white one and after that a blue one with white feet.  I knew none
of them.
One that was almost all black appeared then, and I thought for a moment my
tuxedo girl had returned.  Nope.  Not enough white shirt.
Then an Abyssinian (sp?)   My garden was filling up with kitties, and I knew
none of them.  There was a seal point Siamese, two more tuxedos without the
proper Kitty FC markings, and a black one like tux but with a white mark
extending up the back.   Kitty did not come.
At that moment, I felt she was dead, and wouldn't ever come back.
I woke up in a panic.
I went downstairs (in real life). 3.08 a.m. Kitty was there, quite safe and
snoring in front of the fire.
A few purrs that these terrible dreams will soon stop would be appreciated.
Thanks.

I once knew someone who would dictate the kind of dreams he was having.
Most of the time he'd plan on having a happy dream, but would
sometimes given himself nightmares for variety.  I thought he was full
of it, but have been able to choose dream types of my own from time to
time.

Anyway, am having the kitties send soothing purrs to you for better sleep.

Back when I used to have dreams (years ago), I could control them.  My
favourite one was where I'd be chased by the bad guy and would be
running away for my life, but I would always be a bit faster, nimbler
and better than him and in the end I'd always get away.  I'd wake up
feeling very pleased with myself ;-)

Appropriate purrs that your subconscious settles down & doesn't worry
you with distressing working-things-through dreams any longer.

I once had a run of dreams (during an extended period of dental
treatment) in which all my teeth would crumble & fall out of my mouth at
the most inappropriate moments (such as during a dinner party) & know
how upsetting it can be.

Best wishes

Argh!

I have dreams about this all the time, because, well, my teeth *are*
bad.  To make matters worse, my last crown was actually a "half-crown",
as near as I can tell something between a filling and a crown.  I had
the temp crown done on a Thursday; Friday, it actually fell out and I
swallowed it!  Friday is my (and apparently virtually all local
dentists') day off; the dentist on call told me he could do nothing, and
refused to answer further pages.  I searched through the phone book
until I finally found a dentist who was working and said he could help
me out.  He just put some substance in the tooth so it would be less
exposed and less likely to break if I used the tooth.  *Much* better
than nothing at all.

Anyway, ever since then, I've had dreams about my crowns just falling off.
Lovely.  Especially as I need two more this year.

I haven't really had a dream in years.  I only ever dream that I'm in
bed sleeping.  It seems that I'm aware of every minute that passes in
the middle of the night.  If it wasn't for the fact that I wake up to
go to the bathroom and am always surprised at what time it is, I would
think that I don't sleep at all.  But I must because I wake up rested
and refreshed.

You are lucky.
Thanks for all the purrs, it *sort* of worked.
The worst dream I had last night was that I was in the house that I, my
brothers and my mom used to live in.  I can't remember they were there or
not (my mom died in 2003.)
Anyway, the front door was opened with a key and two women I didn't know
walked in, and sat on the settee, as bold as brass.
Somehow I knew that another person had visited the house the night before
and stolen a spare key and these women had it now.
I asked them to have it back and they said no.  I knew I couldn't let them
keep it, or they would rob my mom.
This is the awful part.  I could not tolerate the idea of them having a key
and began to search them so I could get it back.  I found the whole keyring,
with lots of keys on, hidden in one woman's knickers, lower part, you know
what I mean.
I knew I needed the keys.  I steeled myself to get them:  and I did! So we
were then all safe.
It was certainly a most peculiar dream.  I'm beginning to wonder whether the
tablets I have to take is causing them.
However, I would much rather have this sort of dream than ones where my
kitties are lost or dying like I had for the last two nights.
Knickers and keys I can cope with.   Boyfriend dying of a broken back and
Kitty missing, I can't.
Tonight I will try to dream about nice things.  Holidays in Germany with my
friend N?le, maybe, or winning the lottery.  It won't work, I don't think.
Some of us have to put up with all sorts of things on a daily basis.  Mine
seems to be bad dreams.
Let you know if I'm on a white sand beach, blue sea lapping nearby, reading
my favourite book with some sort of nice snack and a little drinkie nearby,
tonight. ;-)

Hrm.  Could be.  Seems like my dreams have definitely taken a turn toward the
weird and memorable since I've started having a before-bed snack (to buffer my
pill).

Before Dennis had his back surgery, he used to take a lot of
anti-inflammatories and they used to make him have weird dreams.  I
think some people are more susceptible than others.  Dennis is also
susceptible to caffeine and MSG, neither of which does a thing to me.

I wonder if there is a connection between the Caffeine or MSG and
strange dreams.  I am also sensitive to Caffeine and MSG and just about
all my dreams are in the definitely weird category.

Maybe that's why I had a nightmare last night.  I took melatonin and had
this really weird and scary dream that had to do with - hard to describe -
this huge metal thing you had to strap yourself into in order to go over a
part of the road that was missing.  And someone didn't strap themself in
before the operator started the thing moving and she flipped over and fell
into this pitt.  Later she showed up in my dream walking on bleeding stumps
where her feet had been acting like nothing had ever happened.  YIKES.  And
the dream continued each time I woke up and went back to sleep.  More of the
weird mechanical thing to get you across the road(s) and more people falling
and/or dying.  It was not a peaceful sleep.

I keep having nightmares lately about terrorists.  I sure hope it's

Try this tonight when you go to bed tell yourself and show your self that both kitty and boyfriend are fine. If they use a cat door, block it tonight you should have better dreams.
