They put a lot of salt down around here when it snows and he hates
it--limping around and looking miserable so we tried the Muttluks to see
if they'd make him more comfortable. Now he doesn't limp but he isn't
thrilled with the boots, either.

It is going to get even better. We're waiting for our new condo to be
built and I picked out black granite counter tops (with flecks of gold)
and black appliances to go inside. They'll blend right in! :-)

That is Argus, who went to the Bridge in 2002 at the age of 13. It was
he and Boone, along with my husband Steve who found Oliver. While Boone
has always been Oliver's playmate Argus was more like a father figure.
Someone to go to when Oliver was afraid or in trouble and someone to
keep him safe and warm. On more then one occasion I'd see Oliver cuddle
with Argus and Argus would look at Oliver and then pick up his big tail
and spread it over Oliver like a blanket.
I sure miss that boy.

What an interesting name. Argus. Did you mean for him to be a watchdog?

At the time we were not sure how much of a watch dog a Golden Retriever
would be :-) but we did name because the name has come to mean "faithful
watcher." We wanted all of us to watch over each other.
He did, too. I believe he saved my life. I was home one day, sleeping
in and the door bell rang started to ring. whoever was ringing it was
doing so repeatedly so I thought it was an emergency and got up to
answer it. When I got there no one was at the door. I heard a noise at
the back door and looked out the window just in time to see a man kick
in the back door. I ran to the bedroom with the dogs and called 911.
The guy knew I was home and started running down the hall after me like
he was going to kick in the bedroom door. Both dogs positioned
themselves at the door and touched noses, looking deeply into each
other's eyes. Suddenly Boone ran away from the door and sat on me.
Argus started throwing himself against the door. Every time the man
came near the door my gentle, never met a person he didn't like dog
would growl and snarl and hit the door so hard the wood would bow out.
I had no doubt that he would have ripped out the throat of anyone who
came thru the door. The guy who was in the house was so crazy that he
actually picked up the phone in another part of the house an listened to
my 911 call. It only took the police 4 minutes to get to the house but
it was a long 4 minutes and 3 times the guy came and tried to get in the
door and each time Argus threw himself at the door. The guy finally ran
away out the back door. Argus kept up his snarling and growling until
the police got there and the minute they announced themselves he quieted
and went back to being Mr. Sunshine. They never caught the guy who did
this but they were pretty sure they knew who it was and his crimes had
escalated to the point where he was carrying a gun and assaulting
females. It was believed that if he would have gotten to me he would
have abducted me and made me empty out my bank account and the who knows
what. He finally was arrested for bank robbery and a home invasion. I
truly believe that when Argus and Boone touched noses at the door they
communicated something along the lines of Argus would get him as he came
thru the door but if he failed Boone was to protect me.
So, Argus was aptly named after all--he sure watched over me that day!

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one who puts shoes on their animals. Your dog is gourgeus and so is Oliver, I had a deep fondness for tuxedo kitties.

I love these! Great shots! I really giggled over the doggie boots
on Boone, but I know what you mean about all the salt they put
down. Plus, they can really get a lot of ice caked in between toes
just out doing their business.
