My name is Lyn, I'm 41 (yikes!) and live near Portland, OR. I have two feline companions - Mimi (14) and Peewee (13), two canines, two snakes and one turtle. Oh, and about 35 goldfish that are turtle food. I have worked in shelters/rescue/as a vet tech forever it seems (among other things), now retired SAHM to a darling humaniod nick-named "Juicy J" who just turned one. Look forward to posting more...I see a few familiar faces. :)

I too am a Cat-o-holic....who is emphatically NOT seeking treatment for the condition. =o) The more I see of human nature, the more I love cats. =o) This is a fun newsgroup, pounce on any of the toys scattered on the floor, or find yourself a sunny ledge on the cat condo.
In other words, welcome. =o)

Hrm, out of curiosity, did a search on google groups to see what I could find .... four posts throughout Usenet, two of which suggest this Pete guy is a right-wing type of guy.
I'm going to go out on a limb here and say that Pete did not make this comment because he's curious about your pets. Way out of line, dude. If you must spew this kind of tripe, do so in alt.politics.bush, where it might be appreciated.
Victor, I'm sorry you have to put up with this sort of crap. And if you noticed the probably intent and decided to ignore it, I'm sorry for stirring sh*t up. It just infuriates me.

As for the gerbils, I happen to have gerbils, so I don't know what the heck you are freaking about.
btw, Victor is a big boy, and I am sure he is quite capable of taking care of himself. If he felt insulted, he could have said something, and I would have explained myself.

8 (1 oz.) squares of unsweetened chocolate 1 cup butter 5 eggs 3 cups sugar 1 Tablespoon vanilla 1-1/2 cups flour 2-1/2 cups chopped pecans, toasted
Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
Melt chocolate and butter in a saucepan over low heat; set aside. In a mixer, beat eggs, sugar and vanilla at high speed for 10 minutes. Blend in chocolate and flour until just mixed. Stir in the nuts. Pour into a greased 9 X 13 inch pan.
Bake for 35-40 minutes. (Don't overbake.) Cool and frost if desired, but that is not necessary.

Lyn, I forgot to mention I am close to 42, and am a single woman living in California. My owners are named Panther, Francesca and Nina. Pan is my senior citizen as he will be 17 sometime this spring. (I don't know his exact birthdate.) He is a neutered male, all black except for a little white snip on his chest, and is quite convinced he is my husband. Francesca is a brown classic tabby female, about 1 year old whom I adopted from the Humane Society last May. About a month later, she produced Nina, much to my surprise. But Nina is so sweet and so much fun, that I knew very soon it would be impossible to part with her. She is a brown tabby like mommy, but with a white face, bib, tummy and paws. So, in a shoebox apartment, I live with three cats, two of them being young and rambunctious. May I live in interesting times!

I have one old grey grouch, Shmogg, and one rambunctious kitten with a death wish, Itty Bitty Kitty Fergus (IBKFergus). I also have a sweet and lovable pooch, Fluffy, and a 9 month old Chaos Mage, otherwise known as my son Cary, or The Yowlet. Joel is my DH, and we live in our own patch of paradise, on the East Coast of Australia, about an hour and a half south of Sydney.
Note that food, books, babies and international cultureal differences are always on topic here as well as cats and well, whatever else it is we decide to talk about :-)
Welcome to the group. Put you feet up, grab a kitty or two for your lap, sit back and relax with RPCA.

My name is Lorraine. I'm older than you, and I have three kitties, Indie, Lucy, and Ty. I've only been serving them for about 6 weeks, so we're still in adjustment stages. I have one daughter, one son-in-law, one granddaughter, and one on the way who I wish would hurry up! I live with Brian, and we live in Kansas. We also have a tank full of fish, but they're platys. They won't stop breeding.

I'm CatNipped, AKA Lori Crews, 53, currently living in Houston, TX, but originally from New Orleans, LA.
I'm owned by four furry babies, Bandit DLH (brown, black, and gray tabby), 15, Demi DLH (pure white), 6, Jessie DSH (tortoiseshell), 5, and the infamous Sammy DLH (but seems like pure Maine Coon, black, gray, and brown tabby) 9 months.

This group is very active so I can't always keep up with the posts. I still find r.p.c.h+b useful for some medical/behavioral info, but it does get tiring. I'm pretty sure you know me, but I'll introduce anyway. I'm Kelly, 32, live in northeast MA near the NH border with DH and 6 of our own cats one foster cat. Our cats are Bartleby (all black, alpha of the group, but he's momma's boy), Loki (brown tiger, super friendly), NewCat (grey and white, sleeps on my head at night, very sweet), Mia (black and white, daddy's girl) Toffee (tortie, on the shy side), Antonio (orange and white semi-feral) and foster cat Ana (grey and white, so sweet, has a liver shunt). I volunteer at a local shelter and used to foster semi-ferals (that's how I got Antonio) and kittens. I have to stop for now, not sure when I will be able to resume.

I'm 35, married, grew up on the Oregon coast, now live in Sacramento with my husband Bob, our cat Felix [neutered male brown tabby, believed to be part Maine Coon, about 11 years old now], and our ringneck dove Ava [age unknown, but her apparent size hasn't changed much in the two years we've had her].

PatM - 25 Jan 2005 05:06 GMT Hey Lyn! I'm Pat and I'm new too, but I just sort of barged in rather than properly introducing myself! I'm up here in western MT with ONE cat for the first time in many years. My beautiful old Calvin went over the bridge last year, so now it's just Punkin, a 13 yr. old mackrel tabby Norweign Forest Cat look-a-like AKA Psycho Kitty.
Been through lots of other pets through the years too, as our son grew up...turtles, fish, house-rabbit (love rabbits!), dogs, hedgehogs, ferrits. Hubby isn't such a pet lover and doesn't understand why I won't get another cat unless we keep it in (busy street). Ah, well. Glad to be here. Glad your're here too! PatM

I am Krista; I'm 38 and live with my DH in south Georgia USA. We are owned by Tallulah and Hubert at home, and Ozzy and Tiger at the office. Lula is a longhaired black girl and Hubert is her 6 month old tabby kitten. Ozzy is a big orange boy and Tiger is a tabby guy, small but disgracefully fat.

I was hesitant to join a cat group too, because so many of them are just people nitpicking each other and I had had it! It was suggested that I join this one and people seem really friendly. Welcome!

I am Bob and I live in a suburb just North of Dallas, Texas. I am owned by Psycho and Missy Mouse, Mouse for short. Psycho is a 13 year old girl who is very timid but occasionally will go bonkers, hence her name. She's all black except for a white patch on her chest and her unmentionable area. Mouse is a 6 year old tabby terror that looks just like an armadillo when she meatloafs. I wouldn't trade either of them for a million bucks.

Helen Miles - 25 Jan 2005 19:42 GMT > ...with r.p.c.h+b. Can I hang out with you guys? I've finally just > had *enough*./// Hi and Welcome :) I'm Helen M, I hang out here on and off, depending on where I am and what I'm doing. I'm owned by 3 felines, my alpha cat who is a benevolent one-eyed black dictator called His Royal Feline Lordship Tiger, a little Tabby and white princess called Pandora, who is the love of Tigers life, and a new addition, Cleo, who is black and white and just finding her feet in the household.
The only requisite for belonging here is that you have a sense of fun, are easy going, and love cats :)
