Rob wasn't too pleased, but I told him that the power of the purr is
bigger than he is. We picked up Sonya about an hour and a half ago.
Sonya is a gray and white tuxedo and ready to give birth at any moment.
Rob said that he'd rather not deal with a pregnant mum, but we are
needed for her and she is a little darling. She's very nervous,
needless to say, but has been placed in Mandy's bedroom. Mandy has been
given instructions and information on the care and feeding of a cat who
needs to be eating for five. I keep wanting to say seven, so do you
think I'm right and she'll have six kits? Poll here.
Anyway, Sonya is being fed kitten food. We have a warm bed ready for
her, and we know that the odds are that she'll reject the bed. We have
KMR and baby bottles ready for the kits, and are hoping that everything
goes like clockwork and we don't need them.
So, kitten poll. How many kits do you think Sonya is going to have and
when do you think she'll have them.

Awwww! I know you know, but find a dark spot (maybe the closet?) in Mandy's
room for her to birth the babies and get ready to pace the floor like a
worried meowmie. Rob will be pacing too, I just know it.

My bet is four kittens and sometime between midnight and dawn Monday
morning.
And Mandy will have a fit if she sleeps through it.
Try to keep her bedroom door closed so Mamma cat doesn't have too many
choices of where to drop the kittens. Might be a good idea to put the box
inside her closet with the door mostly closed.

Cat bed under Mandy's bed. There is no room in Mandy's closet for
anything. Cat is kept in Mandy's room 24/7, poor cat. Sonya has taken
possession of the underbed and has come out only to use her litter box,
so far. We're hoping that she relaxes before the big event.
I'm saying Sunday and 6 kittens.

I'll never forget when I was around ten and our cat Thompson had kittens
in my bed in the middle of the night. I was awake, and I rushed in to my
parents' bedroom after each kitten, excitedly telling them what colour
this latest one was and rushing back in my room. Finally, Mum told me to
just go back to sleep. Of course, I couldn't. I just sat and watched
Thompson and her kittens.

Whoa! You got your "wish"! Purrs for Sonya and her unborn kits.
You're in trouble now, lady. lol I could never take in pregnant moms-
to-be when I was fostering. I just didn't have the time if sometime
went wrong. Purrs for you too, and have loads of fun with the lil
wons when they are born.

Pam, we will be purring and praying that Sonya's babies are all healthy and
that she doesn't have a hard time during birthing. You and Rob are kind

Hey, you're better prepared than I was! Purrs that Sonya will rise to the
occasion and be a good, capable cat mama.
I vote for 5 kittens, born Sunday morning.

Oh man, I could never foster a pregnant mommy. I would be a nervous
wreck!! and not to mention I would want to keep all of them.
I am guessing 6 kittens, by Tuesday.
BTW, how is the rest of your animal menagerie reacting to this?

Pine Cone is pouting because Mike reminded him that Penny thought he was
a bad influence on kittens and would attack him any time he even looked
in their direction, but would let the rest of the cats hang out with her
four. Since Mandy's door is being kept closed, PC couldn't be in there
anyway.
Speedy has been whining at the door off and on since this afternoon. He
knows the cat is in there, he can smell her, but no one will let him in
to play with her. She is terrified of him and bristles up whenever she
hears him whining at the door. We keep re-assuring her that we won't
let the d-thing get her.
The rest of the cats could care less. She's here and so what.

Four kittens, late Monday night. Be on the watch, I've seen many mamacats
lose the firstborn of the first litter, because it takes them a little too
long to figure out what to do (tear off the sack and make it breathe)
especially with kitten #2 on the way out at the same time.

Yes, you have to be prepared to do that for her if she get distracted by
delivering the next one. Just tear it away from their face and rub them
gently from head to tail. Sometimes gently blowing in their face will get
them to breathe.
Then again it can be enough to just put the ignored kitten by her face so
she sees and smells it.

Aww, you got a pregnant one. I'm jealous of all that kitten cuteness you
will get to enjoy (reminds me I haven't visited my niece in some time).
I'm bad at guessing this kind of thing, but knowing that cat mamas can
hold their kittens in if they think it might not be safe to give birth,
I'd say she's going to delay them for some days, let's say until
Tuesday. 5 kittens.

Awww, congratulations! Lula sends special mamacat purrs to Sonya, and
reassuring vibes about the human babysitters. She'll find it very
convenient, Lula knows. ;-)

This reminds me of the time when we were without a cat of our own, but
were feeding this obviously pregnant semi-feral. I don't think she
was really feral, I suspect she was an abandoned pet, turned out of
house and home when she got pregnant.
She'd hang around, loved skritches, and ate the food and water we left
outside for her. One night she just stood outside our door and meowed
till we let her in. We put her in a towel-lined box in the kitchen
and she had her litter that night. We got to see the babies in the
morning, and I'm not sure that wasn't for the best -- I'd have worried
too much seeing them born.
We were asking people if they wanted kittens and not having much luck.
Fortunately, our mailman was looking for a family of cats. He took
the whole bunch!
It sure made us feel good to have homed the mama and all her kittens.
Regards and Purrs,

No idea when she'll have them Pam as I can't see her, but 6 is a fairly
average number for Kitties, good luck with them, I'm sure Mandy will
look after them very well, especially with you to guide her, lots of purrs
for the kitties and their mother, and for the big job you've taken on, best
wishes to you
