JBHajos - 22 Jan 2005 14:35 GMT I'm "celebrating" seven years with RPCA, since January 1998. Cruising down Memory Lane, thinking about what a joyride it's been. Grateful to those who so warmly welcomed this ignorant, dumb-bunny into the fold. Missing those who no longer post - TJ, Aim, HazelAz, and others. Remembering buckets of tears shed for lost kitties - Traveler, Dusty, Annabel Lee, Hale-Bopp, Berfert, Seth, Rocky, and too many others. Tears shed for the loss of cyber-friends - Dave, JEM, Sam's future daughter-in-law, Eve, Cheryl's son. Appreciating the many, many things I've learned in asking for advice and in reading informative posts by others. Thankful for the purrs offered when we needed them. And, oh, the laughter! The tons of hilarious tales of life with the furbabies!!
RPCA is the *only* Group I've continued with - have dropped all others. Though it's grown tremendously, it's still the warm, friendly, "feel-good" forum it was when I began. It's had some ups and downs but gets through the downs with kindness and good humor. Here's looking forward to seven more years!

Marina - 22 Jan 2005 15:45 GMT > I'm "celebrating" seven years with RPCA, since January 1998. This was a wonderful tribute, Jeanne. I agree wholeheartedly in everything you said. I've only been here since 6 October 2000 (I just checked on Google). I didn't know anything about newsgroups, someone at work had just shown me how to find and access them, and when he'd gone, I thought, hmmmm, wonder what will happen if I write 'cats' in the search box?

CK - 22 Jan 2005 18:44 GMT Ditto!! I've subscribed to all kinds of ng's, but I've only got five left that I follow regularly and post into more or less sporadically. With the help of Google (was wondering when it was I started, thanks for reminding me of Google, Marina!), I found out that I first posted here on 27 Nov 2000, so it's four years and a bit now.

Tanada - 22 Jan 2005 18:49 GMT > I'm "celebrating" seven years with RPCA, since January 1998. > OMG, my seven year anniversary is next month. Everyone was so kind when I just butted in and started posting without an introduction. The flavor of this group has changed slightly over the years, but the essential friendly we're here for the cats attitude has stayed the same. Like you, I miss a lot of cats and humans who have crossed the bridge, and wonder about our MIAs.
This group has been here for us through a lot, both good and bad, and I hope that we've been here for you too. This group has the most wonderful people in the world and I'm proud to "know" you all.

Congratulations on having had seven years of tears and treasures.

I also have an anniversary of sorts coming up, though a sad one. The second year anniversary of my son's death is in 3 days. I still read the other groups, but only one, and only because I learn stuff there. But it's horrid at times. Another anniversary/birthday coming up... since I don't know what month Bonnie was born, I had given her an honorary birthday of the day of Eric's death. In May of 2003 was when she was trapped and she was ~5 months old, so I claimed Jan 25 2003 as her birthday. The whole death/life thing. It works for me.

It works for me. <<<<<HUGS>>>>> Cheryl. Eric's anniversary is a sad one, I know, but maybe we can make it a celebration of his life. Everything you've written about him tells me that he loved living and enjoyed pretty much everything he did to the fullest. Do you have a sound file of his music that you can put on a website so that we can hear his work? Maybe you can post pictures of him somewhere.
I will be thinking of you on Tuesday. If one of Sonya's kittens is a rather cute (as if there were anything but cute kittens) little boy, may I dub him Eric in his honor?

I used to have a tribute page for his band, but I dropped that site a while back. I just put together a quickie page linking 4 of their songs from their CD demo. It isn't to most people's taste, but I love heavy metal; theirs is a mix of metal and rap. Eric's inspriration came from bands I'd never heard of (mostly). I had to laugh when he brought over a copy of the demo CD. When we listened to it, he kept looking at me funny whenever the F word came up, and it came up a LOT.

I'm going to link another "Eric"'s song. One that has a lot of meaning to me. There are a couple of others that do, too.

I'm not a heavy metal fan, but I really like the first song that you have posted. I'm still listening to them, so I can't say anything about the rest of them, yet. Eric was very talented.

I think it's wonderful that you gave Bonnie the birthday of the date of your son's death. Life coming out of death is indeed something to savor and love.

PatM - 23 Jan 2005 04:25 GMT I only discovered RPCA late one night last week while trolling through various newsgroups and was taken by the good-humored friendliness exhibited by posters. I was hooked! All this, in the midst of war, politics, uncertainty...and I get to brag on my Punkers-kitty, too! I have been reading Dave Yehudah's posts--sometimes they break your heart but mostly they had me laughing my butt off, Wish I could have been around sooner. PatM

PatM Welcome to the group! We don't flame each other here on rpca, unlike some other ngs. Dave was, well, Dave. Even before he passed it was always "that's a Dave-ism" or "You should be an honorary Dave". He always made us laugh.

PatM Welcome to our happy home, Pat. Dave was an original. He always had a different and totally strange take on everything. Yet, when one thought about it, Dave's posts had a strange sense of their own. Whenever I felt depressed, the sight of a Yehuddah would perk me right up.
The Dave I imagined when I was reading his posts was even better in person. I feel so privileged that he came out to meet us in Flagstaff last summer. He had me laughing so hard that I needed that bathroom close by.
In fact I even got him back. I noticed that we saw a lot of vehicles on the road (Interstate 40) heading towards Texas, but few heading away from Texas. I told Dave this and that I'd figured out why. June is the annual Texas re-union month, and all Texans were heading home to spawn. Needless to say, Dave lived in Texas for a long time. I smelled like beer for the rest of the day, and I don't drink the stuff.
Pam S. happy to have caught Dave in mid swallow.

Exocat - 24 Jan 2005 07:49 GMT Happy Anniversary Jeanne.
I've only been around for just over a year & I'm still kicking myself for not finding the Group sooner. As others have already said, it's exceptional. Long life to it.

It brought me up several. Health & behaviour and various others. I really don't know why I chose rpca, but I did. How lucky I am to have made that choice. This is indeed an exceptional group. You are all just wonderful. I have never known a group club together to pay for a big vets bill or a funeral before for a member. You are all exceptional and amazing people.
