A tour bus driver drives with a bus full of seniors down a highway,
when he is tapped on his shoulder by a little old lady.  She offers him a
handful of peanuts, which he gratefully munches up.

After about 15 minutes, she taps him on his shoulder again and she
hands him another handful of peanuts.

She repeats this gesture about eight times.

At the ninth time he asks the little old lady why they do not eat the
peanuts themselves, whereupon she replies that it is not possible
because of their old teeth, they are not able to chew them.

"Why do you buy them then?" he asks puzzled.

Whereupon the old lady answers, "We just love the chocolate around them."

LOL!!!

I think that the ng should create an award in honor of Dave Yehuda, for
the most humorous posts. Maybe the awards could cover different
categories: jokes, anecdotes including cats, anecdotes not including
cats...

Great Idea.

How about we look through the archives (or our memories) and nominate our
favourite funny anecdote from the past year.

Post the anecdote (with full attribution to the original author) and we'll
have a poll.

The winner will receive the first annual David Yehudah "Hi Y'All" prize for
gentle but mischevious humour.

Well your last post about IBKFergus has to rank right up there. I loved that
one.

Aww, ta.

Actually, on second thought, I reckon that we can have a poll to pick the
finalists, and then submit the top "x" to Patty for her to select the one
that she thinks encapsulates all the Dave things we loved him for best.

Humour,
Love of life
ability to see the funny side of it all
the wonderful personality of citters
etc.

Any other ideas?

Since Dave's passing, I've thought a lot about how to honor his memory.
I've collected a bunch (100+) of his stories over the past 4 years.  Don't
ask me why now, but I archived them in MS-Word format.

If anyone's interested, I'll be happy to either zip the folder and send it
via e-mail or post stories a few (say five?) at a time to the NG.

What say you all?
Sam  (If you'd prefer to e-mail privately, addy isn't munged)

A Dave-A-Thon! I think a few a day is a good idea.

I think posting the stories to rpca is a great idea.
Best wishes,

I would *LOVE* to read those.  I'm new (again) to the group and I didn't get
to read any of them when they were posted.  Do you think Patty might want a
copy of them also?

Perhaps we could take up a small $ donation from everyone and have all
of those wonderful Dave Stories put into a nice hardbound book to send
to Patty?

When my Grandmother passed away a few years ago, my Mom and sisters
got together all of Grandma's favorite 'anecdotes' that she had copied
by hand and collected over the years and had them put into a really
nice book form (still in Grandma's handwriting - Grandma had a really
beautiful and unique penmanship).  Then had a copy of the book made
for each family member.  I know it's something I will treasure having
always.

I counted the stories on Flippy's cat site, there were over 140 of them.
Personally, I would love to have a book of Dave Y's stories.  I'm sure
that Patty would too.

And another ditto!  BTW  the thread title might make a nice name for the

Or maybe we could replace the BW warning with a "DY" warning. ;)

Another in honor of Dave Y., a fellow who I didn't really know but
wish I did:

***********************

Every year at the local fair a man offered helicopter rides. Every
year Clyde told his wife Mary that he wanted to ride the helicopter.
And every year Mary would reply "Clyde, that ride costs $50. And $50
is $50."

So the next year Clyde told Mary he wanted to ride the helicopter, and
Mary said "$50 is $50."

The next year Clyde told Mary he wanted to ride the helicopter, and
Mary said "$50 is $50."

And the next year - "$50 is $50."

Well, one year the helicopter pilot heard Clyde tell Mary he wanted to
ride the helicopter, and he heard Mary say "$50 is $50." And then the
pilot said "Mister, you sound like you really want to ride in my
helicopter, so I'll make you a deal. I'll take you both up for a ride
for free, but if you make a sound, just one little peep, it'll cost
you $50. Deal?"

So Clyde and Mary agreed to the deal and got into the back of
helicopter. And the pilot took them on a wild ride - loops and barrel
rolls and flying upside down - all the sorts of crazy things
helicopters aren't supposed to be able to do, he did. And he heard not
one sound, not one squeak from Clyde and Mary.

When he finally landed his craft, the pilot turned around and said
"Mister, I've got to give it to you. I did everything I could, and
didn't hear a thing from you."

And Clyde said "Well, I thought about telling you when Mary fell out,
but $50 is $50!"
