I was just wondering how everyone was doing in your home.  You may have
posted an update and I missed it but I thought I'd check on you anyway.

Aw thanks Julie - it was so nice to hear from you over Christmas with your
card too!

Sam has passed through an allergic phase and seems to be doing well again -
we've started using the cat wipes, which the boys *can't stand* but seem to
make a real difference for Sam.  They hear the wrapper come off the package
and make time!!!!  We're getting hardwood and other flooring option quotes
right now for his allergies.

Jane has continued to blossom from her freaked out selective mutism to
completely happy and joyful in her Montossori school.  It seems like a
miracle considering she stood rooted to the spot unspeaking for 1 1/2 years
of school before going there.  She's in grade one, is about a hundred feet
tall, and is a Siamese cat in human body.

The boys have been stranded inside for three weeks due to extreme cold (-30
C).  It's been fun to see their transformation from bored cats putting in
their time inside to desperate-to-play kids.  I haven't seen otis play with
the cursor on the computer for just under nine years.  He is such a kitten
now :-)  A fat kitten.  Otis has food issues - he eats when he's bored :-)

OTIS TURNS 9 ON JANUARY 19TH!!!!

I just love my cats so much and they give me such great comfort.  I was up
until 4 AM this AM working on a challenging presentation for my daughter's
school and then got to curl up with the cats for a couple of hours before
getting up again at 6 AM (I now look several decades older than I am).  I
was filled with love and joy as Otis spooned with me and purred and purred
and purred.  I hug him and pet him and he bursts into happy and prolonged
purring and cuddling.  Its such a gift and I am always surprised at how much
joy I find in my cats.  I am ever thankful that I've got him home so many
times.  He is such a troublesome cat :-)

Don't know if you've seen the Ireland pics (lots of kids and beaches) - I
remember chatting on Yahoo with you when Fred decided that our trip was
ill-fated and cancelled it under 12 hours to go.  We finally made it, with
pics on Page 2 at http://community.webshots.com/user/susanmandfredk

Fred gave me a scanner for Christmas so I hope to finally do my albums of
symmetrical cats and cats in baby furniture!!!

How are *you*  and Hobbes and Selens and Lacey doing Julie???

Just remember, Maya Angelou didn't speak until she was (I believe) 3. Didn't
seem to stunt her one bit. :)

I knew a little boy about 30 years ago who didn't speak until he was 4
years old, once he started though he hardley stopped. :-)

It's the morning of the 19th here in Finland now, so HOPPY PURRDAY
OTIS!! So glad you are there with your hoomin, where you belong. Also
glad to hear the pet wipes are helping, what a relief! Hope the new
flooring will help too.

Susan,

I am so happy to learn that your Sam is doing better and that Otis and
Chester are able to stay with you.  I know how agonizing it must have
been when Sam wasn't well and you were having to decide what to do.
Hugs and purrs that everyone stays well and happy from now on.  It
sounds like Jane is doing well also.  It is amazing how one school can
make such a difference over others.  I've seen it happen here as well.
The Montossori schools seem to be some of the best schools around.
Everyone I know that has sent children to Montossori schools have such
great stories to tell.

We are all sending Happy Purrday wishes for Otis.  It is now officially
January 19th here so party hardy, Otis!! Wishing you lots of treats and
snuggles with your meowmie and toys and a warm sunbeam for napping when
your tummy is full and you've played yourself out.

Yay!  I'm so glad to hear things have improved with Sam's allergies
:-)  Also good to hear how well Jane is doing at school.  Sounds like
things are settling down nicely for you guys.  Except for having to
stay up till 4 am working on presentations, that is.  Hope you don't
have too many more of those!  I've been hearing about the cold weather
in Calgary from Dennis' mom.  Brrrr!  Even my parents report -6C in
Victoria and that's really cold for there.  We're having a cold snap
here in Thailand too.  It's 24C, the coldest I've ever seen it in the
middle of the day.  I'm loving it!
Hugs and purrs,

Sandpaper kisses, a cuddle and a purr. I have an alarm clock that's

Awwww.... he's a cutie! I've always said so, from the first time you
wrote about him.

I'm very happy to hear y'all are doing better.

And Julie - have I missed an update on Sam?  I don't see anything else from
you since the 16th.   How is he doing??   I'm lighting my incense and
thinking about him right away.

Julie - I found your update under a reply rather than your name.  Outlook
nukes posts older than 300 items I guess?  I'm *so* glad he's home and I can
just imagine counting kitty breaths.  He sure is putting you through lots of
worry.  I'll send thoughts instead of that irritating incense smoke!

I quit smoking 15 years ago - you go girl!!!  My roomate made me smoke
outside - it was really really cold and I smoked my Players Light cigarettes
much too fast as a result.  It made me sick and I quit :-)

Take care and purrs to Sam,

Actually "nuking" posts depends on your ISP's server administrator.  However
you can set OE to download more than the standard 300 messages.

Thanks Jill - I've upped it now!  I'm not always on everyday and I've been
suspecting that I've been missing a bunch!
