I was on the phone a while ago with my LLL (long lost love, can this become
a regular acronym so I don't have to explain it?).  Persia decided she
wanted out in her kitty walk.  She started meowing, sweetly.  Well, it's 30F
outside and I told her so.  John, in the meantime, was hearing her try to
explain why she had to go out there.  She went from a simple and soft but
plaintive meow to an "ow-ow" to a mrrrph ow-ow to a very throaty (very
siamese sounding) MEOW????  John was laughing like mad.  His Kidder doesn't
"talk" to him like that.

Poor little Persia.  She must be pretty fed up with winter weather.

Stinky purrs at people over the phone. ;)

My little nephew in DC-- 15 months old-- has to go out and run around
for awhile every day or he goes absolutely stir crazy and makes
everybody else crazy.    There was a cold snap after Xmas when I was
visiting -- a lot too cold for his Mom and Dad, anyway.  We took him
to my hotel!  Nice long, carpeted corridors-- Evan could just run up
and down them until he was exhausted, and nobody froze. ;)

It hasn't been bad, except for a few days of ice.  But yesterday when it was
68F at this time of day it was pouring down rain.  Today the sun came out
and it's now 32F.  *I* am sick of the constant ups and downs in temp.

Awwww, that's cute!  I can't get Persia to do that.

When my oldest daughter was that age, we were living in Anchorage Alaska.
We would go to the airport once a week and we would watch the planes taking
off for wonderful warm places that actually had daylight and let her run
around the waiting areas.  Lots of carpeted indoor space for her to run.

That's how many of us living in my highrise get our exercises in the winter
when
it gets down to -30C. We walk up and down the stairs and along the hallways.
It is much warmer indoors and you don't have to bundle up to venture out to
the gym. Too bad Rusty doesn't like to be harnessed or I can take him on
a 'hall walk'.

Speaking of stairs... I had a horrible dream last night.  As usual, most of
my nightmare dreams involve former co-workers and me trying to get back to
my department.  (I've had this dream in variations before.)  I dreamt the
stairs wouldn't go anywhere so I had to take the elevator, but in this case
the elevators wouldn't go to my floor either.  And then they fell.
Harmlessly, for some reason *outside* the building where elevator workers
were there to help us get out of the fallen elevators.  But in my dream I
managed to get into three different failing elevators which fell (safely)
but my purse and keys were still on the 5th floor which I could never get to
so I couldn't leave.  Yikes!

I have recurring dreams about nice places to live that have tiny entrances
and dangerous, twisty and rackety stairs to get into. What do you suppose
that means?

LOL!  Vino does that too.  When one sort of meow doesn't get him what
he wants, he tries another and another.  He's got quite a range :-)

Yeppers... if one meow doesn't work, surely the next one will!  It's so
funny.

Yesterday afternoon the pest control guys knocked on my door.  I was asleep.
I was going to ignore the knock but then I heard the distinctive sound of a
key and my door opening.  Persia got up and *growled* while I yelled, "Just
a minute!"  They closed the door and I got dressed and went and told them,
"No you can't spray, I have a bird in here".  Persia was on the alert for
about 30 minutes afterwards, staring at the door like the good little
watch-cat she is.

She *is* a good girl! But don't you leave the chain on your door
overnight? I would be terrified if strangers could just walk into the
flat first thing in the morning! (even if they do have a key!)

No chain on my door here, although I tried to install one and the door frame
is so hard the electric screw driver wouldn't even get the screws through.

At any rate, the landlord and his/her representatives have the right to
enter the premises with a master key at any time.  However, they are
supposed to (and these guys did) respect my privacy.  When I yelled out
"Just a minute!" they stepped back outside and waited.

I do understand your concern, and thank you for it.

Jill
