The other evening I was relaxing in bed with a good book, accompanied by
Bandit and Snowball curled up alongside, with Pericles snoozing on my
desk chair nearby (my office is in my bedroom thanks to lack of space
elsewhere).
Bandit & Snowball decided to give each other a grooming, not an everyday
occurrence, and it developed into a fierce head-washing contest with
neither boy prepared to back down and fail to give as good as he was
getting.
After quite a few minutes, and two soggy furry heads later, Snowball
broke off the engagement and went over to join Pericles on his chair,
then proceeded to "share the love" by giving Peri the benefit of a
thorough
head-licking too.
Unusually for him, Peri allowed himself to be groomed without demur, no
cuffing away of the impertinent youth, until Snowball was finished, when
they all resumed their previous positions and went to sleep.
I hoped that this was the start of a new harmonious era between Snowy &
Peri but hoolikitten was back in Peri's face the very next day and the
customary minor squabbling was resumed.
Still, it was a heartwarming moment & I felt like sharing it.
Purrs to all, especially those in need.

Aww. That is cute. I'll never see that in my household. :o( My ^Clyde^
used to clean ^Bonnie's^ ears for her. :)

Grant and Sugar used to do this. They can't really now. After turning 2, it
somehow morphed (most of the time) into wrestling no matter how much they
really just want to groom. It is cute.

Is that what I have to look forward to with Rhett and Scarlett? I
have the most precious pictures of them grooming each other, and
piling up on top of each other to nap. I hope that doesn't go away.
I've never had cats that started out as close as they are before.

Frank and Nikki still cuddle together and groom each other, though not
as often as they used to. Sometimes grooming does turn into wrestling.

I'm quite sure Molly would be happy to groom Jake. And he might let her
when hell freezes over. She already bosses him around like the momma cat
she is, and he finds it very hard to take from what looks like a kitten half
his size. (and twice his self confidence)

How sweet. I sometimes think the washing is like a bribe, saying "I
love you, now let's play rough again"!!
