I guess I should have figured with the flood next door that it would
be our turn next.
Sigh.
Last night, I went into my closet to get a clean outfit -- only to
find my clothes soaking wet! Apparently, with all the rains here
recently, a leak in the roof became quite active, and leaked into our
closet and the hall closet both.
Unfortunately, those closets are where I store my most precious things
-- photos, old newspapers, old greeting cards, our "wedding box",
things like that.
Fortunately, somehow, almost none of the important stuff was damaged.
The water either missed it completely (in the case of the photo
albums), or there was minimum damage to the less important things
(just a few newspapers of which I have several copies, and some old
posters advertising my services and plain poster board).
Of course, I was upset. I will have to wash all my clothes, and right
now, there is nowhere to put them! I will probably have to deal with
mildew, which makes my asthma worse. And we have one huge mess here
right now, having had to move all the boxes and albums out of the
closets. But at least the pipes didn't break, the ceiling didn't fall
in, and it wasn't a tsunami, where we lost everything. So I guess I
should count myself lucky.

Ugh! Yeah, I guess there's a bright side to everything, but ... I hope it all
gets fixed in a hurry, and that your asthma isn't aggravated.

What a mess! Purrs you'll get everything washed and I'm glad it didn't get
to some of the other stuff stored in there.

Lots of drying purrs! I had the same thing happen when I was in college,
not fun!

It may not be a tsunami, but it's still a pain. =o\ However, I'm glad the
important treasures weren't damaged, and that you discovered the problem in
time to save them. I think this apartment, and apartment complex is bad
luck for you, and it's trying to tell you to find a luckier place to live!

I think you may be right! What's scaring me is that, with all these
problems, the landlord is saying he is just one major problem away
from losing the building. I have nightmares about some godawful
slumlord getting ahold of it and deciding "no pets". I'm purring
furiously that I can get a good tenant in the one next door, and then
in his other empty apartment. And then hopefully get our finances
together to get a house!

Sounds like a working to dispel whatever negative influences might be
lingering around the apartment that flooded might be an even better idea.

I'm sending purrs your way, Ginger-lyn. You have had more than your share
of bad luck.

I'm so sorry to hear about your problems.
Purrs, hugs and best wishes for a quick and easy solution to be found really

Hopefully it isn't too late, but what you should do is borrow or rent
a humidifier. That will pull the water out quickly. Just keep the
drain basin emptied. Good luck. Yes, you and some others have had it
rough lately. Purrs.

That would be a DE-humidifier :)
