Persia got the Zoomies

She went absolutely NUTS, zooming around the apartment, from the bedroom to
the living room to this room; up on the windowsill, back out to the couch.
I chased her up on the back of the couch where she got that WILD look in her
eyes and batted at my hands, then she took off again.  This time into the
dining area... there were a couple of crinkly mylar balls there and an empty
box... oooh!  I tossed one of the balls into the box and she dove in and
killed it.  After that she paused, looked around, found a soft felt mousie
and killed it, too.  Then it was time for a nap :)  After all, when you're 6
years old, the zoomies only last so long.  Gotta rest up for the next bout!

Persia sounds adoreable.  I have another kitty named Googly Bear!  He loves
to "nurse" and drool all over you at bedtime, but in the daytime if you
are not paying attention and walking past the row of breakfast bar chairs
(with wooden slats in the back) you are fair game for a quick swipe attack
from between the slats!

My hubby purposely gives Googly Bear attack practice by dashing back and
forth along the chair row so Googly can sharpen his skills.  It's too
funny seeing a 6 ft, 200 lb man prancing back and forth while a white 11
pound cat with beautiful blue eyes attacks him!  LOL!! Michelle

Persia is usually too laid back to attempt swipe attacks.  But sometimes she
lulls me into a false sense of security.  She'll be stretched out on the
floor and I'll get up to walk by her to the kitchen.  Two paws snake out and
wrap around my ankle.  This usually means I didn't pay proper homage as I
walked by (i.e. didn't give her scritches, talk to her, or perhaps a belly
rub was warranted).

I'm sure that's a funny thing to see!  You should catch it on film...
blackmail can be so much fun!  LOL

Hubby sounds like a keeper, so does the kitty.

Perhaps your DH would enjoy the game my beloved Misty (RB) and I used
to play.  I would make a 'tail' for myself out of either a six-foot
piece of rope or the sash of my bathrobe by tucking one end of it into
the back of my trousers and letting the other end drag on the floor.
Then I would walk around the apartment giving Misty a chance to attack
my 'tail' from ambush.  I could almost always count on an attack from
behind a chair or from around a corner.

Misty was an exceptional cat and would catch on very quickly to almost
any game I thought up to play with her.  One of her favorite pastimes
was to lie on my chest as I lay in bed while I recited Edward Lear's
poem, "The Owl And The Pussycat".

YES!  YES!  I did this too with Mimi!.    Mimi would yank the "tail"
away, and go charging all over the house with it clutched in her
teeth.  ;)

I love it when they do that.  Prissy used to do it occasionally-When
she was in that mood, I'd just look at her and she'd have that wild
look on her face and then-Zooom!.  Sometimes I'd just be sitting
watching TV and all I would see is the black blur as she zoomed from
another room through the living room on her way to the other end of the
house.

I wish Kona and Sebastian zoomed, but it's not part of their behavior.
They will  go nuts over toys at times.  Can't blame them for being
themselves. Besides, wanting Kona to zoom is like wanting a Clydesdale
to zoom.  There's just too much inertia involved. :-)

The vet tech in charge of adoptions where I got Sebastian and Kona
swears up and down that the full moon really does seem to cause a lot
of cats to zoom and generally get the crazies.

Felix, at about 11, is too sedentary for such antics :-). Ava, OTOH
[or should that be "paw" or "wing"? :-)], does her version of zoomies
on a regular basis. :-)

Both Frank and Nikki sometimes get the zoomies, in spite of their
advanced ages (17 and 16). I love it when these senior citizens act like
little kittens! Nikki has these sound effects as she zooms around, a
sort of trilling noise that I hear getting louder and then receding as
she zooms by: rrrRRRRRRRrrrrr and then she comes back rrrrRRRRrrrrr and
whooshes by. LOL!

Oh Marina, that's too cute!  She does sound effects!  Must be a little like
a small race car going by :)

The Kitty Doppler Effect!
I love it, too.  Stinky still gets it about once a day.   He does the
trilling thing, too, when he has a mousie in his mouth.
The past few days, he's been repeatedly trying to show his tail who's
in charge-- the evil thing has been sneaking up and attacking him a
lot. ;)  A couple of days ago, he even gave me a "drive-by,"
ricocheting off me as he tried to turn in mid-air.  It does my heart
good to see he's still so energetic and playful.
