Gonna light some candles on the anniversary of Persia selecting me as her
slave on January 6, 2001. She's such a sweet, loving, snuggly kitty and I'm
so grateful she chose me :)
For those who don't know, Persia came to my back patio door 4 years ago
tomorrow afternoon and *demanded* I let her inside. I'd never been around
cats before; I actually tried to chase her away; she wouldn't leave. It was
bitterly cold outside so I finally ran to the store to buy cheap cat food,
bowls, a litterbox and litter and told myself if she was still out there
when I got back I would let her inside. She was and I did.
She came inside cautiously... checked out the apartment and decided yep,
this was the place for her. That first night when I went to bed she jumped
up next to me and slept next to my head.
I did take photos and printed out posters. I called area shelters and vets
and contacted the apartment office. No one had reported this cat missing.
It only took her 3 days to declare, definitively, I was HER human. She
pulled out all the stops and charmed the socks off me... she wasn't going
anywhere!
She still sleeps right next to me. She comes when I call her. She follows
me from room to room. She is a sweet little grey lady who does not jump up
on counters (except for in the bathroom) or tables. Occasionally she opens
cabinet doors and drawers and wants to hide in closets.
Her boyfriend Weeble would disagree but personally I'd say she's turning
into a little blob. She has to eat Rx food due to bladder stones and she
loves the stuff! She wakes me up by tapping me on the shoulder, gently, to
tell me it's time to refill the crunchies in the food bowl. And she loves
her Drinkwell fountain, which I bought because she kept sticking her head
under the faucet to drink when I was brushing my teeth and I was afraid I'd
spit toothpaste on her head. :-O
I love Persia!

Aaahh... congratulations on your anniversary. I'm sure she never jumps
on the counters while you're out and never even thinks about doing a
little tap dance on your table :)

I'm pretty sure she doesn't. She doesn't leap much except from the couch to
her kitty cradle or on the bed. She doesn't seem to like high places and
would certainly not consider attempting to perch on top of a door. She's
also afraid of mice :) Goofy cat!

Awwww, happy anniversary to Persia on her adoption date! I'm so glad
she found such a loving forever home with you.
Cosmo's anniversary was Dec. 29th. Ten years ago he literally walked
right in the door after I invited him in, and he has been here ever
since, CRF, heart murmur, and all. I love my Cosmo, too :-)

On Day 3, I decided I had to call her something other than "cat". She was
walking away from me when suddenly "Persia" just popped into my head. I
said it out loud and she turned and came running back towards me. Ooooh!
Okay, your name is Persia! :)

I should have that happen. YOu sound like you are truly a good person -- and
kitty could sense that.

You story is practically identical to my Siamese (RB16) story. I had her
for 14 years. Purrs that she will stay healthy and be with you a long,
long time. MLB
