Hi all! This is Oscar. Mom Monique has told you all about me. Of course,
she got most of it wrong, but what can you expect?
Anyway, I thought I'd tell you about my unusual day. Mom got up early for
some reason and started mucking about in the kitchen. See, she got this
crockpot thing for Christmas from her brother, and she's all excited about it.
So far I haven't been thrilled, as usually before she uses it the whole house
starts to smell like onions *wrinkles nose*
So she put some stuff in this crockpot thing and went off to wherever she goes
while I guard the blankets and the sunny spots all day.
Well, a few hours later, the house starts to stink. I mean bad. When Dad-
Eric got home, he wasn't pleased at all, and I saw him go talk to mom in the
garage before she even came into the house, which he never does. Usually he's
on the computer when she gets home!
Mom was pretty upset. Something about how she'd expected orange-glazed
chicken when she got home. Sound absolutely disgusting to me, but that's
humans for you. She even opened the door to the outside and let all sorts of
cold air in. Mom hates the cold, so I'm sure she wouldn't have done it if the
smell hadn't grossed her out, too. I don't know what she was trying to do,
but burning orange juice is not my idea of a nice smell!
Anyway, on to the good part. Mom really hates waste, so she was picking
through the chicken, and she found the top piece was still pretty edible. She
nibbled on some, then tore it into little bits and gave it to me! Now, back
when I was a dry-food cat, I wouldn't have been impressed by this stuff, but
now that I'm eating squishy food (*big sigh*), I'll take what I can get. I
gobbled down the first little bit mom put down, so she brought me some more.
That disappeared, so she gave me even more! In fact, my whole dinner
consisted of extremely-well-done chicken tonight. I can't complain *licks
lips and nose*
Mom seems grumpy for some reason tonight, but I don't see why. She
served me a good dinner; what more could she want?

Oh, you are a lucky kitty, Oscar!
I never used to like human food, but now when I have turned fifteen I have
discovered chicken. It really is the yummiest food! I climb all over meowmie
to get hold of some.

Yeah, it's not bad!
Most of my life I had as much dry food as I wanted, and I'd take a nibble here
and a nibble there. Now that mom had this crazy idea about the squishy stuff,
though, I go nuts for anything else. If she gives me a few kibbles, I wolf
them down!
This weekend should be interesting; the humans are going to a place called
Steamboat while I watch the house, and I'm pretty sure they're going to give
me as much dry food as I want. Do you think I should pig out while I have the
chance?

Just curious - why is a female named Oscar?

Because when she was a baby, the vet thought she was a boy.

That reminds me of the first kitty I ever had. I must have been about 10.
I named "him" Thomas J.R. Thomas surprised us with a litter of kittens one
morning.
I now have a female dog named Charlie. She came to me with this name, so I
don't know how she got it, but it fits her like a glove :)
