They had some video on the news tonight. Someone had set up a camera on a
smallish pool. I couldn't tell if it was a water tank or what really (had
the sound down talking to mom on the phone, so no real details) they were
in. But two geese are swimming in this pool and a BOBCAT comes up and tries
to get at them. The pool was big enough that it couldn't reach them really,
but it batted at them and the water and the geese got all stirred up and
flew out of the pool off to the left and out of the camera frame. Of course,
the bobcat chases after them and for a moment there are no animals in the
frame. Suddenly, you see the bobcat come running back through the frame in
the opposite direction and one of the geese comes flying, flapping and
hissing in behind! It was hysterical. It looked like a cartoon. The bobcat
did not look very big, so I don't know if it was young or the goose was big.
Hard to tell. Anyhow very funny. I wish it was on the web somewhere!!

It came through just fine. That is quite a story of a very brave goose.

When we lived in Bangkok there was a lumberyard across the street. They
didn't have watchdogs; they had watch geese. Lemme tell you, geese can be
pretty darned ferocious.

We had "watch geese" when I was a kid - they would chase off anyone or
anything that came into the yard. Geese are quite terratorial and
ferocious!

So do I Karen, sounds really funny, the bobcat got his comeuppence
without any harm coming to any of them, except perhaps the bobcats
embarassment{spelling?} Jean.P.

I wonder if bobcats have the domestic feline ability to put on the "I
meant to do that" look, and if the bobcat had anyone to whom that look
could be presented.
It occurs to me that a fundamental philosophical question may be
arising. When a cat uses "I meant to do that", do the other cats:
1. Believe it
2. Decide it's beyond their dignity to notice
3. Laugh hysterically behind a straight face
