Apologies and purr request

Well, now it's happened to me, too. I simply don't have time to read
everything on rpca, nor to post. I'm very sorry to have to do this, but
I'll have to send blanket purrs, meatloaf meditations and dirty
litterbox offerings to be distributed as needed. I have loads of work,
and have to bring some home every day because of my 'spa' visits.

I mentioned in a post some time ago that I'd applied for a job as
translator at the Ministry of Environment, and that I thought that
hadn't come to anything since I hadn't heard from them. Well, they
called last week, and I'm going for an interview next Monday (the 10th).
So if anyone remembers, I could use some purrs on that day. Not only is
the pay better, but I'd be much more interested in the subject matter
there than at my present job at the university. This could mean a huge
change to me, as I would also have to find a new place to live, because
the flat I'm renting belongs to the university and they only rent to
their employees. (Sorry, Frank, may have to move again.) Well, so far
I've always done a big change in my life every ten years or so, and it's
about time again.

I understand completely Marina! I keep wanting to respond but don't want
to respond to one or two requests unless I can respond to everything so
I end up not responding at all. And I've volunteered to take on extra
duties at work lately.  At least for the time being while we are short
staffed (and I hope to learn a new job skill in the process).

Purrs on the way that you get the position that you want. I'm sure if it
means more sunshine and critters to watch that Frank won't mind the move
too much.  Lots of luck!  I'll be on the road on Jan 10th but will
instruct all four felines that they need to be sending concentrated
purrs your way.

That's exactly it, Julie. It seems so unfair to only respond to some
posts, when there are many who deserve responses, and then I don't
respond to any because I don't have time to respond to everyone. Purrs
for the new job situation, though. :o)

Thank yu, Julie and everyone else who sent purrs (wish I could thank you
all separately). We'll see how it goes. I have no idea how many
applicants there were, so don't know anything about my chances.

Hope you had a good interview, I've been off rpca for a few days
so I didn't get to send you any purrs , sorry but some are on their
way now that you will get the job. BTW, you and Julie sure got it right
about posting, I feel the same way, I answer one or two and that seems
to be all I've got time for, and then I feel guilty,Thank you for your
lovely card too  hugs   Jean.P.

Thank you all for your purrs. Well, the interview went ok, but they've
had 33 applications, and I'm not really formally competent for the job
(it mainly consists of translating from Finnish to Swedish and I've
studied English, so am formally competent to translate into English, but
have done a lot of translation into Swedish, anyway, and haven't had any
complaints). So, I won't hold my breath, but it would be really nice.
The ministry handles a lot of stuff that I'm interested in;
environmental issues, sustainable development, conservation, housing
issues etc. I'm hoping yet not really hopeful.

Thanks to Thea and Bono for their purrs. Glad to see a post from you,
Lena. I was starting to think the storm had hit you hard. How is it
around there? I know your area had a much worse time of it than mine. I
had to do a touble-take yesterday on my way home in the bus, though. We
were going past this field, only it wasn't a field any more, it was a
lake, complete with big waves.

Whoa! Marina, I'm so glad you're ok. When you posted about the storms
coming, I guess I couldn't picture how bad. Glad to see Lena and
others from up there posting, too.

Everyone is posting about the wierd weather and happenings in the
world this winter and where I am (east coast, Mid-Atlantic they call
my area), we're expecting nearly 70F (21C) for the next couple of
days. We've had warmer than normal temps and I'm just waiting for
winter to catch up. It will, you know. *shiver*

What really gets me is that that field is nowhere near water - the sea
is about 1.5 kilometres (nearly a mile) away. Where did all that water
come from that has flooded the field??? It didn't rain that hard.

We're waiting for winter here, as well. We had snow as early as October,
but it's all gone now and it's raining instead, which is all
topsy-turvy. It should have been the other way around.

lows have been very mild too, in the mid 60's (18C). Some plants are

This morning it was around -8C (17.6F) and although it wasn't really
windy, at least not by our standards, there was wind and I was walking
directly into it. Our plants are not in the least confused!

We have had a comparatively mild and low-snow winter so far, but our
weather is always extremely variable so it's hard to say there's anything
unusual about our weather changes.
