With all the destruction and so many lost lives in Sri Lanka it seems that
all the wild animals in Yala National Park are ok. I know we have mentioned
Yala here before and that some of you know it. I visited the park some 10
years ago and had the privilige to see lepoards, apart from all the
elephants and other fantastic wildlife.
The place we stayed in the park were just by the water on a long sandy
beach, and the area as I recall it is very, very flat. I find it amazing
that when the water went more than 3 km inland no animals were killed. I
have been wondering about what happened there but not until the day before
yesterday did I hear anything at all ,when the first reports from the park
reached us here and the vice manager at the park said that the animals much
have some kind of sense to help them get to safe ground.

You're kidding, right? Of course humans don't. At least large numbers of
them don't. Looking at the entire population, I am constantly amazed
that the human race has survived as long as it has given the remarkable
lack of sense displayed by such a large percentage of the population.

Apparently not, John Boy.
