I found a bald spot

Mischief - 31 Dec 2004 00:15 GMT
I picked up Imp to give him some cuddles and give him a good brushing
when I noticed a bald spot.

It's about a half an inch in diameter, on his right shoulder.  His skin
is white and there are two tiny puncture marks.

If he was an outdoor kitty, I would say probably a rat or a mouse or
something.

But I bet it's from wrestling with Mischief.  I'm used to seeing tufts
of Imp's fur lying around on the carpet but I haven't spied a large
tuft yet.  hehe

The area isn't red and it doesn't look infected, so I"m not that
worried.  I'll check on it every now and then but I'm sure Imp is just
fine.

I wonder what he did to Mischief before she finally let him have it.
hehehe

Kristi, I don't know if your cat is the same, but mine got a very minor
puncture wound on his neck, and all the hair fell out. The vet called it a
bacterial infection and we just treated it topically with Panalog.
Funny thing is, the hair grew back a totally different color.

Could be ringworm, can you check it with a UV lamp?

Keeping a close eye out is a good idea.  My Nikki had a small spot like this
on the back of her shoulders some years ago.  Evidentially it itched as she
would roll and scoot around on the carpet.......she has always been so
playful, I didn't realize what was going on until I came in from work one
day to find she had a weeping, bleeding wound about the size of a quarter.
The skin had gotten so thin from  rubbing on the carpet, that the vet had to
remove skin  and use staples to close the opening........he said it probably
resulted from a spider bite.  She recovered well but had to wear newborn
baby undershirts for several weeks to allow healing...........Lorna

I'm sorry, but the image of anyone putting newborn undershirts on a cat...
that just cracks me up!  Glad your Nikki is okay and purrs for Mischief.
