Frank is disgusted with his hoomin, since she has had another bout of
pop-pop-pop fever, and now he demanded I do something useful instead, so
I am taking dictation again as the tail of his life unfolds.
"During my long life, I have observed hoomins closely and one of their
most disturbing qualities is their constant need for change. I mean, if
you have a good napping spot, why look for a new one? Hoomins just can't
seem to settle for a good thing. They are always on the lookout for
something better, but they never find it.
Take my hoomin. Please. Take her. OK, sorry, that was an old one. But as
an example, she is constantly moving us from one place to another.
During these nearly 17 years that I've been with her, she has moved 6
times. Six! Why can't she just settle down in one place and call it
home? Granted, the places have gradually increased in size. This one's
pretty nice. It has two rooms. It made me a bit confused at first,
because we had always lived in one-room flats before, and I would be
napping and wake up and not see my hoomin anywhere, and then I would
call for her and she'd call back from the other room. So I could go back
to my nap. Sometimes I had to go and check that she was really there
before I could go back. I'm quite used to this now.
But the really nice thing about this pad is the balcony. It's like a
room outside, but with walls, and glasspanes that can be opened if it's
hot and closed if it's windy. The only problem is, the hoomin can't keep
the sun in its place, so it would warm the balcony. She is sadly remiss
in carrying out her duties. Half the year, the sun hardly visits our
balcony at all. Nikki sits at the door, complaining, but I must confess
that I've given up. If the hoomin is going to be such a miser with the
sunshine, I'm not going to show her I care. I'd rather just take naps on
my bed.
Which brings me to another change that the hoomin just had to make. One
day, the Grandmeowmie came over, and she and our hoomin *moved* the
*bed*!!! I ask you! *What* in heaven's name is up with this yahoo??
Luckily she didn't move it very far, and it is partly in the same spot
so I can sleep in the same place in relation to the walls (for better
reception of instructions from the Mothership), but this still rankles.
Though I must admit, I still have to curl around her head at night and
purr until she goes to sleep, just to make sure I keep her under my mind
control.
Now she's talking about moving again. <sigh> What's a gentlecat to do?"

Frank, your hoomin sounds about as intelligent as most of them. What
can we do? They mean well, and if they would just listen to the
mothership, they would understand. Oh well...

Persia here. Oh dear... moving again. My goodness! My mommy has never
made me move except to dat smelly place when she goes off with that guy
named John. My mommy can't move da bed. It's too heavy. Dats good 'cause
catches the sunlight (if she opens da blinds). Da blinds let me watch da
birdies and da skwerls onna outside. Of course my mommy is also remiss in
that she doesn't keep the sun there when I want it. It didn't come out
today at all!! But da birdies and skwerls were out and even a CHIP MONK.
It looks like a funny small striped skwerl with a short tail.
But maybe your mommy will move you to a place where you have even better
sun! You have my sympathy and purrs.

Hello Frank, this is Toffee.
My hoomins dared to disrupt my house too! You know that thing that they get
in and get themselves all wet? Well, the hoomins kept saying it was
"leaking" whatever that means and they needed a new one. Next thing I know,
there are scary hoomins in my house making too much noise. I had to hide in
the basement! Meowmie couldn't find me and was calling me but I wouldn't
come out. I thought it was safe, but the next morning, they were back
again! So now there is a new wet thing and it doesn't rain downstairs
anymore. I liked that, it was fun to watch. All of us cats had to get in
the wet thing and make sure it was OK. We sniffed it and rolled around. I
hope the hoomins don't change anything else, though.

I don't know why hoomins like sitting in water, very strange. I have a
theory it makes their fur fall out. All the hoomins I've seen only have
fur on the top of their heads and my daddy has lost nearly all of that
as well. I keep trying to warn him but he doesn't seem to understand.

My humans are weird about that too. At least my Mom uses some
interesting-smelling bubbly stuff when she's in that huge water dish.
Dad prefers making that part of the bathroom rain. Dad's even weirder
than Mom [and he's losing head fur too, but Mom isn't].
Felix, who has never understood why humans like getting wet

Persia here. My mommy likes sitting in da water too. And even more
strange, she seems to remove some of her fur on purpose! But not on her
head.
She puts nice smelly stuff in da tub of water sometimes too. It makes
bubbles that I want to touch and play wif. But den I want to lick my paws
and de bubbles don't taste good. And Mommy laffs at me; dats not very nice.
But I got da yummy gooshy food today and she said "Happy New Year"! and
brushed me and gave me scritches. So I guess I'll let her take da silly baf
in da tub as long as she's nice to me like dat :)

Do not sit on the edge of the water dish and bat-bat-bat at those nice
bubbles. They have some strange power over cats and make them slip and get
their paws wet and make their Meomie scream with delight at being
suddenly joined by a cat.
I speak from experience.

That's terrible, Frank! I make sure my meowmie's bed is always at the same
place ever since I moved in more than 5 years ago.
Worried,
