Ok, I've been watching episodes of Mission Impossible on my computer
for hte last week, and have been watching episodes I've never seen
before.
And then I go to CNN.com and find out that Peter Graves passed away
today. talk about TRIPPY......
Wish I could have met him before he died and let him know that even
though I wasn't even a thought in 1966, that I still enjoyed watching
reruns of Mission:Impossible.
To be honest, growing up I always knew him as Captain Oveur from the
movie Airplane!, which was a favorite of mine as a kid.
And for those who want a cat reference, download the episode, "The
Seal" in which Peter Graves uses a trained cat to retrieve a priceless
piece of jade. They extend a metal beam through a hole in the wall
into the gallery, and you watch as Orangey the cat aka Rhubarb walks
across it, opens the plastic case, picks up the jade and brings it
back.
But if you look closely, there are a few shots where the cat is
walking on the beam and then settles down and looks around with a "Why
the heck am I doing this?" look, with an occasional look off camera.
I think its a look saying "What is my motivation again?"
RIP Peter Graves

I saw him selling something on TV just last week, very late at night,
and even with make-up, he didn't look very good :(
I watched MI when it first aired. At the time, it was some of the best
programming on TV.
Later, when he started to do comedy, if anything he was even better :)
RIP, MR. Graves.

"Joey, have you ever been in a Turkish prison?" LOL That movie was the best
spoof of all the 1970's Irwin Allen disaster flicks! Peter Graves was the
perfect person to play the airline pilot. With Kareem Abdul-Jabar as the
co-pilot (Roger Murdock). Still one of my favourite movies.
RIP, Peter.

I saw several episodes recently when they were included on one of those
retrospective themse. The "kitty" episode was one of those. I was always
fascinated by how we could be kept interested and "believing" even though we
didn't have any idea at all what all those wires and connections were doing.

I remember the first time I saw him: He was a handsome young man
portraying a Nazi criminal in Stalag 17. He had his legs tied together
with a string of tin cans fastened to them. He was running to escape
being shot, but he lost the fight.
