Subject: [Last Days Survivalist] emergency!!!!!
hello, i am needing help. i am hopeing that someone in this group is
involved with HAM radio,or has a friend that is.it might seem
irelivent to any of you,but my wife is in port blair, one of the places
hit by the earthquakes and tidal waves.red cross wont give me any
information, say i can only ask about american soldiers wounded.all
telephones has been out for almost a day now,and the deathtoll is
climbing higher and higher.i just need a little peace of mind with
this and i i realy hope that someone here can help bring it to me.i
barely got married on september 8th,and i havent seen her since
september 18th,and now this its to much.please, anyone able to help at
all with this i would greatly appreciate it.port blair isnt getting
the major media coverage, telephones are all dead and my mind is just
in a realy bad state..my email address is son_of_erin2000@yahoo.com
anything,no matter how small is a great help.
her name is Manimala ganguly, she is a college student there.she lives
in the city of port blair-territory of andaman and nicobar islands, a
part of town called junglighat(jung-lee-gat) wish is.i have tried
american red cross but they wouldnt help, and neither would the state
department because though we are legally married,we have only been
married since september 8th,and have not yet applied for family
visa, and therefor not a citizen of the us.
i dont mind whoever you post it to,it will increase the chance that
someone can find out something,if not about her, perhaps that part of
town, gives me an idea of how bad things realy are.any help you can
lend would be greatly appreciated.

The correspondent should try calling the local chapter of the Red
Cross for advice. The International Committee of the Red Cross is
active in times like these.

I am so glad. From overnight news reports and from reports in our
paper today, I've learnt that those islands were close to the
earthquakes epicentre ; as yet, five or six of the 38 inhabited
islands in the 572 island chain remain without communication links.
and that aftershocks of up to 6.0 have continued to rock the islands.
Indian navy ships are on their way to the islands.

In addition to the groups you could try alt.ham-radio, or japan.ham-radio.
You could also have them go to the site world.yahoo.com then select a
yahoo site from over there. They could then get into the yahoo boards,
or yahoo chat from that area and perhaps find out something.

The fellow did email me again -- his wife telephoned. Got a couple moments
on a phone some where. So, for now there is no one asking me for contact
help. For now.....
Thanks for all the kindness, purrs, etc.
