Our precious baby, Seth (used to be called Cajun), is spending Christmas
at the vet's office, awaiting the results of an FIP test.  We won't know
anything until Monday.  Any purrs you can spare for this sweet little
soul will be appreciated.

The vet just called: it's definitely FIP, and he advises that we allow
Seth to cross the Rainbow Bridge early, to save him pain.

So the pain is ours, instead.  How do they get so far into our hearts in
such a short time?  How can someone so small leave such a big hole?

Seth was born July 29, 2004; he chose us on November 11, and he will
probably cross the Bridge this afternoon.  We thank you for your purrs
and your sympathy; you have helped more than you could ever know.

To try to quote a favorite poem,

For a Dead Kitten

Put the rubber mouse away
Pick the spool up from the floor
What was once alive and gay
Is not with us anymore

What was warm is strangely cold
Whence dissolved that little breath
How can this small body hold
So immense a thing as death.

Oh Nina, I'm so sorry to hear this news.  A kitten can win our hearts
in such a short time and Seth found his way into yours.  You are doing
the courageous thing and depriving the little man of wasting slowly
away while he had no understanding of the pain he was going through.
DH's heart and mine join yours in feeling that there is a kitten-sized
void in the world today.

Oh, {{{{Nina}}}}}.  I am so sorry.  May your pain heal with time, and
may Seth go gently to the Bridge.

They worm their way into our hearts so quickly, it only takes a moment
to love them.  And as brief as little Seth's time here will be, at
least in that time he was loved.  Bless you for loving him.

Your family and Seth are in our thoughts. A friend of mine said
something that really helped how I thought of
things -- he said "Maybe this one wanted to just try this world out for
a
little bit, like sticking a toe into the water and then retreating --
maybe she'll come back".

Maybe because of you Seth liked it here enough to one day want to come
back.

Hugs and prayers to you

Nina, I'm so sorry and am trickling tears with you - I also lost an adorable
kitten to FIP despite several months of our vet's best efforts.  You and

I am so far behind with posts that I was unable to respond to the purr
request before the update was posted.  I'm sorry about that.

They get into our hearts because they are small and vulnerable and need
caring for.  A person with a large and kind heart will always respond to
this and it makes them precious.

>How can someone so small leave such a big hole?

I'd like to know the answer to that, too., but they can, and do.

It won't help you now for me to tell you that you have done the right thing.
How lucky he was that you made his short time on earth so happy.  And when

Somehow I missed this post as well. (I'm skipping the PW posts and I'm
afraid I'm missing posts that fall in-between.  I have lit a candle to
help guide little Seth on his journey to the bridge and to bring some
peace to your heart.  You gave Seth a loving family and when he arrives
at the Bridge he can proudly show his 'Shard of Nina's Heart' to the
other kitties that meet him there.  You are in our thoughts and prayers.
