Either that or somebody stole her and replaced her with a changeling.
Scout is a very timid kitty - she usually runs away from you if you
try to pick her up or bend down to pet her, and she keeps all
interactions strictly on her own terms, using her claws and teeth to
remind you of who's boss if she doesn't like it.
Anyway, today she was almost unnaturally affectionate. It was so
sweet.. She wanted to be in whichever room I was in and she followed
me around the house while I was cleaning... when I got down on the
floor to scrub up some ickiness, she kept circling around me and
rubbing against me and pausing to bat at the scrubber - it was too
cute. If it was in the bucket of water she'd bop it with her paw and
watch it bob up and down, and if it was on the floor she'd try to pick
it up and run off with it! (maybe we've found our dish sponge thief...
I thought it was Silver until now - leave a sponge lying on the
counter overnight and it will never be seen again!) And when I lay on
the bed for a snooze she curled up next to me purring and wanting to
be petted - AND she let me clip her front claws, only making faint
protests and withdrawing her paws a few times... then I sat at the
computer and she voluntarily jumped up onto my tummy and lay there
cradled in my arm purring while I petted herfor about five minutes!
She lay across my legs briefly the other day, but usually she won't
climb on a person or jump onto a lap. she just circles you and mews,
or sits next to you if there's room on the chair. I was so pleased to
have her give me that gesture of trust... I hope she'll do it again
soon :)

She wants you to tell Santa that she has been a good girl. MLB

I hope so too, Karen! That's such a lovely feeling, isn't it?

Awww. That's heartwarming. I hold out hopes for my Moxie, that some day
she'll get in my lap. She's gotten so much better in the 7 years since
I got her as a stray that somebody took to the shelter. I could hardly
touch her at first. Now I can pet her for at least a few seconds, &
sometimes even pick her up for a few seconds. :) And she sleeps w/me in
cold weather. Maybe Scout could give her a pep talk.

Isn't that great? Nothing like having a tired kitty crawl into your
lap.<melt>

Awesome breakthrough! It only takes time with some of these guys. Its
very encouraging that you were able to clip her claws. Continued best
wishes.
