Yup, we got snow tonight. Not enough to worry about, but enough that
the yard is white. Little Miss OMG it's 80 F and I'm going to freeze,
took the d-thing out for a walk in it. He had a great time, she came in
vowing never to live north of Tennessee.
Usually when this happens, I am to blame. I am in charge of all weather
conditions and changes and anything wrong is my fault. Now getting snow
before the middle of January (usually MLK B-day) is rare. In fact this
is the first time I remember this happening in the 7 years we've lived
in this area.
The normal routine when we do get snow is to go out into the enclosure,
stand in the middle of the area, turn around three times cursing, and
then come in and let me know that they are not happy with the hired
staff and I'd better FIX IT RIGHT NOW.
This time, the cats are sticking their heads out the enclosure door and
deciding that it is WAY too cold out there for a self respecting feline,
and coming back in to meatloaf on our bed. It was a five cat bed this
afternoon, and the snow hadn't started yet.
Currently, Rob is changing the bed linens as Mozart baptized them in the
way only a kitten can do. Mozart is sitting on my pillows, glaring at
Rob and expressing his displeasure with being moved with little hisses
and growls. Rob is playing with him, so he isn't too tissed with Mozart.
Tanada is doing her vulture impression from my hard drive tower, Berfert
is under the bed, QC came in from making sure that the out is still as
cold as he thought it is, Merlin has taken over my side of the bed, and
Huey is sitting on the floor pouting because we won't let him play with
the beaded garland. Pine Cone is still sitting on the cat condo in the
living room daring Speedy, the d-thing, to come at him. Both PC and QC
have been chasing the d-thing around the house. Things are certainly
lively here at our house.
Love to all, and to all a good knight,
Pam S.

In west Tennessee it is currently 18F. My d-thing never minded the cold; I,
on the other hand, would be walking him exclaiming, "You sniffed that tree
10 times already!"

Of course it's your fault! Persia was yowling yesterday; she wanted out in
her kitty walk. Uh, no, Persia, it's COLD. She didn't care but I didn't
give in. No snow here; it's too cold to snow. I think I'm grateful but the
outside birds are not.

I only wish it were snowing or cold here in Colorado. An insane amount of wind
started last night, and it's still going strong. I never really got any
sleep with all the noise. The severe weather watch says constant 25-45mph
winds with gusts up to 85. It's actually scary listening to this stuff. And
of course our silly neighbor put out his trash can last night, along with half
the neighborhood; trash is everywhere. I can feel the house vibrating. Not
looking forward to the drive to work.
Oscar slept right next to me all night, which is extremely unusual. I just
opened the office blinds so that she can jump up and take a look; she put her
paws on the ledge and just looked a few times, and now she's just staring, her
head darting this way and that as she watches leaves and bits of trash fly by.
I'm kind of glad all of the trees in our yard are pretty small.

What awful weather, Monique -- we get some high winds in Albuquerque from
time to time and it always makes me nervous as we have about 8 30-year old
Ponderosa pines in our yard. Hope all quiets down soon.

Thanks, Christine. The drive to work was a real eye-opener. I'm not usually
a fan of two hands on the wheel (usually have one on the stick), but believe
you me, both hands were glued today. I saw signposts bent over and drove
through a mini-sandstorm. Only saw one accident and heard one siren, though,
and I suspect they were related.
My thoughts are with the homeless people in the area. I hope they can find
shelter, and that their few belongings aren't torn away from them.

Lovely story, Pam! I am not a fan of winter 'cause I'm sorta like Mandy in
that I get cold too easily!
