For a month or so I was down to a small happy family of just Max and Ginger.
Then came Sam.  Sam is a declawed female that someone abanded in our local
park thats bascially in the middle of no where.  My girl friend was working
and up wobbled the skinniest cat.  Poor Sam was so hungry that she could
hardly walk and her legs were shakey.  So I brought her to my house.  Upon
further inspection I found out that she had been declawed and had apparently
been someones cat and very fat at one time.  She'd lost so much weight from
not being able to eat that her fun and skin hung down in layers like a
person whose lost massive amounts of weight skin would.  I took her to the
vet who said she's also spayed.  I put ads in the paper hoping that she was
someones cat to no avail.  she hissed at everyone when i first got her.  Now
she loves being a people kitty but still hates max and ginger.  Max so wants
to play with her and she'll have nothing to do with him.  When I first
brought her home Max and Ginger ran up to her like hey who are you whats up.
Niether one of them could understand what she was so pissed off about,  but
they keep trying.I think because she has no claws she thinks she has to
protect herself at all costs no matter how friendly max seems.  I hope soon
that she comes around and realizes that max and ginger wanna be friends with
her.  She sure doesn't mind eating out of thier bowls while they are eating.
LOL.  All hell breaks out though when they try to eat out of hers!!!  She's
already got her a favorite spot on top of the couch and maybe after
christmas I'll find her a good,  if i don't get to attached to her.

Merry Christmas

In case you end up keeping her, you might try adding some Rescue Remedy
to everybody's water, and put Feliway diffusers in the rooms where they
spend most of their time. The Rescue Remedy especially - that stuff
worked wonders in getting Cleo and Amelia to accept Tabitha and Sammy.

It's one of the Bach Flower Remedies, often found in health food
stores.  "Rescue Remedy" is for stress.
See:
http://www.bachflower.com/
They have their fans and detractors for hoomin use, but they do seem
to work very well in getting the kitties through stressful times--
e.g. introducing new cat, unusual comings and goings, etc.
