OK. Just did the whole intro thing with a new cat sitter. My friend who
usually sits for me and I for her will be out of town the same days I am.
I'm leaving for home Thursday and coming back Monday (purrs please. I'm
always a wuss about travel). So I had to hire someone. I picked a different
one from last time (which was some time ago and I didn't care for the young
man). I really, really wish the lady I liked SO much that moved to Kentucky
could do it and I *hear* she is now back in town but working for someone
else. If I could figure out who, I for sure would try and get her, but too
late, I already engaged this woman. Now, she is older (which is something of
a bonus I think) and she is certainly in to cats. She was very good with
them and her cat has a temperment like Pearl's so that is good. She even got
to pet Sugar, which shows she is fairly intersting to cats. It's just ME she
makes a bit nervous. I can tell this lady has an odd kick in her gallop.
Now, I should be the last one to disparrage this as I do too, but I think
with people she is just not as comfortable. I think it will be a good person
for the cats, but being she is new, I will of course worry. So any stray
purrs for a nice sitting experience next weekend would be appreciated. I
will say they seemed bent on showing off. Pearl chased after BOTH Grant and
Sugar while she was here, which was pretty odd. I mean, she will still do
this on occasion, but she was pretty perky and even though she was chased,
Sugar did not retreat under the bed. So I don't know if that is good or bad.
I certainly hope they do not do that when she comes over all the time!! Wish
us all luck.

purrs, Karen, for your nerves and for the kitties to have a great cat-sitter
experience -- I know how it is; I always worry about the furkids when I have
to travel.

Karen, it sounds like you're having some bad gut instincts about the woman.
That happens, and sometimes it's way off base and sometimes it's right. I don't
blame you for being nervous. Is there anybody you can leave a key with just as
a safety net, who could call you?
But, OTOH, it is only five days. The worst that could happen is they don't get
fed regularly, and they will survive even then. They'll be okay.
I get to be petsitter for the grandcats for seven days when the kids go to
Miami for the championship game.
Purrs for safe travel and a good petsitting experience for Pearl Grant and
Sugar.

Oh, I think she will be a diligent feeder. I'm just always nervous, and my
experience with the other lady was just so positive for both me and the cats
I tend to bemoan getting someone different. I'm really going to try to track
the other lady down when I get back. I just liked her so much that I would
actually not mind travelling more if I could find her. Like I said the cats
seemed to like this lady OK, so I guess that is the most important part.

Purrs for safe travel, purrs that the kitties will be well, and purrs for
your poor frayed nerves.  Don't hold being odd against her, I think all of
us cat slaves are just a bit odd, in fact, I think it is a requirement!

Let us know how it goes.

Purring for you to have selected a good kittysitter.  I hope everyone has
a great holiday.   MLB

Good luck, and lots of purrs that everything will work out well.  I had an
okay experience with my cat sitter while I was gone over Thanksgiving, so
I'd say the odds  are in your favor.  Granted, we take a risk when we hire a
stranger to come and take care of our best beloveds. However, I think
they'll be okay with the idea, since they seemed to like her when they were
introduced.  She may have an odd kick to her gallop, but did she give you an
impression of being untrustworthy, in any way that made you truly worried?
How did you hear about her, and did she leave any references with you of
other people she's done pet sitting for? Is pet sitting her profession, or
is she simply doing it to pick up some extra money? Either way, if she's
trying to establish a good reputation for herself in the business, it's in
her best interests to be trustworthy, even if she seems a little odd.
Unfortunately, so many people go away from home at this time of year, that
it might be hard to find another alternative if your gut tells you not to
hire this woman.

I hope it turns out to be a positive experience for all concerned and that
you won't worry too much when you should be enjoying your Christmas.

Purrs Karen, both for the kitty sitter situation, and for your
travel. A very Merry Christmas to you and have a safe trip.

Sounds to me like you have found yourself a very good "spare" cat sitter!
Wish I could find someone like her to come in here when I need to be away. I
can understand being nervous about her, but see if you can home in on what
your intuition is really saying to you about the woman, and trust that.

Well, at least you know a country doctor now. Maybe they would know someone
if you needed it. Purrs still coming that you are feeling better. You know
we all do care about you and the kitties do too.

Lots of purrs coming over that the sitter turns out to be excellent, and
for your trip to go well. I can understand so well that you're nervous,
but the cats know best, and they say she's alright. :o)

{{{Karen}}}}  I can surely understand your nervousness!  Purrs that
things will go perfect, and you will have a lovely trip, your cats
will have a lovely time, and all of you will have a happy reunion
soon.

Purrs that you have a great visit, and that you find your worries
unfounded when you return home. Doesn't mean you won't worry of
course, though, as I always worry about the furry and feathered ones
when I'm away
