I don't remember who it was (Monique?) who wondered about the little
pink sock. This comic says it all:

Hi! New here, and I love Mutts. My local paper is carrying a special
Christmas strip on the back page. It's the story of how Mooch & Earl
met Shtinky Puddin'.

I have 2 furgirls of my own--Miss Moxie & Daisy. I adopted them
together as adults, along with ^Abby^ about 7 years ago. Daisy is an
11-year-old tortie/tabby & Moxie is an 8-year-old gray tabby. We live
in Pennsylvania, the States.

I LOVE that strip.  Of course I do, because of my own Stinky.   I love
when Mooch sniffs him and says "Shtinky."
And Shtinky says "Yello!"

I don't know why, but it just seems perfect that Shtinky would say
"Yello!"

Welcome to the group, Katz. We get that comic strip and the same
storyline in a paper here. Here is Helsinki, Finland, and I live here
with my two b/w moggies Frank and Nikki. Pics at the links in the sig.

aw, how cute Franki is with his pink sock. Jazz's sock is a filthy, yellow
sock he's had for 11 years. It's now about 1/2 its original size because
it's almost dead. He also has a BIG hot pink sock which he hates. He attacks
it with gusto, biting it and bunny-kicking it. The dirty, yellow sock he
will carry around in his mouth and sing to.

Awwww.  Gotta love the little white feets!

I'll have to take a picture some time of Oscar and one of her socks.  The
favorite is the grey one.  She just sits there licking it for ... well, for
longer than my attention span, anyway.

Awww... what a cutie!!! It reminded me the girls used to have a catnip
stuffed sock they *loved*. Tom bought it the day we picked them up from
the breeder and it lasted a long time. I think it was lost in the move
to the house. I need to find another one...

Heh, that's because the sock is inundated with catnip.

This is such an adorable picture - the pinky sock goes so well with the pink
nose and the pink paw pads :)

What is it about cats and socks? I'm finding mine all over the house! In
the morning I get "marched over" in bed and when I peek out from under the
covers to see what's going on, I see the end of my sock disappearing off
the side of the bed. What's really funny is the look of intense seriousness
as Harlequin drags one around, trying not to stumble over it.

Cinders raids my sock drawer and/or dirty clothes hamper every so
often, and I will find a sock abandoned somewhere in the house.  I
suspect that there is probably a cache of socks somewhere that I
haven't found yet.

Just wanted to say I like the other photos in that collection, too. Cold
Fire is pretty nice. I love the juxtaposition of the construction with the
"natural" surroundings. (Human construction is no less "natural" than a
beaver dam.) You have a great eye.

Thank you, that's very kind of you. I liked the contrast between how
cold I knew it was outside and that sunrise, which looked so firey. I
never thought about the contrast between nature and construction. I'm
sorry to say that most of my view of the forest has been blocked by all
those new houses that were being built then. It's amazing how quickly
they've built up this part of town! It used to be a lot of fields and
woods, now it's housing everywhere.

The same thing is happening where I live, in Northern California across the
bay from San Francisco. It's not necessarily a bad thing, but it's hard on
my fellow critters, who get driven into the old neighborhoods. We've got a
bobcat that shows up occasionally, and crows, hawks, and owls rest on the
power lines above the houses. We've found kitten "parts" outside. Grisly
but "natural". The ferals compete with the opossums and raccoons for
critter chow.

Up near Hilltop Mall in Richmond. Go here:

http://www.smartcorridors.com/

Click on the top of the map to see the north area, then on the intersection
of San Pablo Ave and Richmond Parkway. My neighborhood is off to the left
side of the frame.
