Just got a rejection letter from the city on that dispatch job I was
chasing. [sigh] Four months of bureaucracy, and I get a rejection.
Nothing clear as to a specific reason, and I won't be able to find
out.

Ah, so sorry about that, Seanette.  Many good wishes that you get a job
soon.
You will, I know it, keep on trying and don't lose hope.

I'm sorry to hear that.  It sounds like government work always takes a
long time to a decision on.  Purrs that you find something even
better.

In contrast, academia is like government, but without the efficiency.

Oh, I'm sorry! I was wondering about that the other day. Purrs that you
find something else and even better!

Sorry to hear that.  I applied for a government job once and they finally
sent me a rejection letter SIX MONTHS after my interview, which was done TWO
MONTHS after I'd sent in the application.

The government SUX.
