OT- Going scuba diving

Dennis and I are taking off tomorrow for a scuba trip. We'll be
spending 4 nights on a boat in the Similan Islands north of Phuket.
Very excited! We've been wanting to do a trip like this for years but
the timing has never worked out. Hopefully we get a good bunch of
people on the boat and see some really great fish and corals. Really
hoping to see a whale shark.
We'll be back on Saturday evening, so I'm sending out purrs and
headbutts to everyone in advance :-)

Thanks for telling us in advance. It should be one of those great trips
that I really enjoy thinking about someone else doing more than I'd actually
enjoy going myself. I have the soul of an adventurer, but have learned I
don't travel well.

So I'll be thinking great undersea thoughts.

Have fun! Gawd you do some exciting stuff.
Scuba diving is one of those things that just freaks me out though. I
don't think I could even put the mask on without a bit of a panic
attack. And you guys are looking forward to it :)

Ooh, I'm so jealous! I just did a quick search on 'Similan Islands'
and got all sorts of hits on diving vacations and diving cruises. It
must be a paradise for divers. Have a great time!

Yes, the Similans are definitely a diving destination. I doubt anyone
goes there for anything other than diving. I am so excited!
There is another group of islands called the Burma Banks just north of
the Similans and it's supposed to be even better, but the trips there
take 7-10 days and are much more expensive. We've been away so much
lately, we figured a shorter (and cheaper) trip would be best. Trip
report to follow upon our return :-)
