Purr Request for The Duke Of URL

Tanada - 12 Dec 2004 01:11 GMT The Duke, who used to post in here, has not been heard from since he dropped off from here and other newsgroups in the middle of September. I thought he lived in Florida and had been affected by the hurricanes, but he lives in Nebraska and has been in poor health, so far as anyone can determine. We have some really fantastic people from alt.military.retired trying to find out if he's ok and where he is, but the information they have gathered has been spotty at best. Worse, we've been informed that while he was in the hospital, someone broke into his house and stole everything of value, including his computer. The Duke also has/had a couple of cats and no one knows the fate of them either.
So please think kind and healthy thoughts and ask your cats to purr for the Duke of URL and his owners.

Caroline S. - 12 Dec 2004 01:28 GMT Purrs on the way.
I've also been wondering about Dave Yehudah. Anyone know how he's doing?

Also, whatever happened to Hopitus???

Also, whatever happened to Hopitus??? Purrs that they're all doing fine, and are just being beseiged by RL and not able to get online as often as they would wish. As for Hopitus, last I can recall there was a move in the works (from Florida to Denver?), but that was a long time ago.
BTW, I just posted a copy of a message from Crackles' Meowmie (posted to Yahoo Catslaves last Friday) in another thread. Basically, she's living with friends, still waiting for FEMA to provide temporary housing while waiting for repairs to her hurricaine damaged home.

CATherine - 12 Dec 2004 01:43 GMT >The Duke, who used to post in here, has not been heard from since he >dropped off from here and other newsgroups in the middle of September. This is terrible! I had been taking the newsletter and wondered why it suddlenly stopped. And now I relize I have not seen him posting here for a long time. I so hope he and his cats are ok. Purrs and prayers are being sent immediately for their safety and well-being.

Much purring that he is fine and his AFK time is entirely voluntary.
I often wonder what has happened to posters that just "dissappear", and send an occasional "hope you and your kitties are OK" purr for all those ex-RPCA people.

Oh, wow - I wondered where he went! I hope he is OK, and his kitties, too. (I'm having a brain fart at the moment and cannot remember their names - anyone?)

Tish Silberbauer - 12 Dec 2004 09:53 GMT Purrs to him. Is he the guy that got Dude and then got Sweet to keep Dude company? If so, I was entranced by his descriptions of his kitties and the beginning of their life with him.
Tak, are you going to take a leaf outta his book anytime soon and get a kitty companion for Betty? Persephone, who thinks that Betty is pretty, suggests that it is a good idea.
Tish (dropping in briefly from RL, but probably not for long)

Betty has convinced me that she is a good kitty and would treat a newcomer nicely. Also, I have some unusual work requests coming up, so I may not be able to keep her company as much as she's used to.

If I bring home a kitty friend for Betty first, then I win. :)
I have a couple of things to mull over. One job is actually for a local university here that your father once worked for. They asked me to do some part time consulting research on recent management trends, which I accepted today.
The other is trickier. A former employer wants to ramp up a new division, and asked me to join them as chief software architect, to look at their requirements and create a new engineering team. I haven't decided on that one.

Takayuki - 15 Dec 2004 01:49 GMT >Congratulations, Tak! You're going to work at Harvard? Cool! It's just a fun side thing that I wanted to do. I'm also a grad student there, and I was doing things along those lines at another university, so it allowed me to tie work and school together a little.

My concern about this was that the work requires a high level of effort, which would leave little time for other things (I don't think there's anyone out there who actually wants to do this kind of work, ack, architecting from scratch...), but they made a good pitch for what they're trying to do, so I'm thinking of accepting.
Tish Silberbauer - 13 Dec 2004 09:39 GMT You're a good man, Tak.

Sheesh, what will it take to get this poor girl kitty another companion, and yourself into proper ownership.

Irulan - 12 Dec 2004 19:13 GMT I remember reading some posts by The Duke. We will purr and pray that he is all right and that the kitties are also ok. It's really difficult when people are alone in their twilight years without family. Friends just cannot check up on them all the time. Jazz & his mama
