We picked up our two next foster cats today.
Patchouli, a mixed tabby and white, once had an only home. Then the
SOBs abandoned her and left her to take her chances with the out.
Linden, the owner of "The Haven," and the rescuer had to use a trap to
catch her as she was way too terrified of humans to go anywhere near cat
food, let alone come to humans. I was afraid to ask what they baited
the trap with. She is currently residing in Amanda's room and has
decided that she owns the bed, not Amanda. It will be interesting to
see who gets to sleep in there tonight. When we went to PetSmart we
bought the two fosters some toys. Patchouli seemed interested in her
toys, but not enough to do more than sniff at them. They're hers no
matter what and will stay with her, if we have any say about it.
Mozart (Rob wouldn't let me name him "Oscar the Grump") is an eight week
old kitten. He was/is pretty ill and needs medication and constant
supervision. He is currently residing in Maude (our "spare" room) which
is also the room that Charles occupies when Mike isn't home. The two
have already taken a nap together. Mozart is a "red" tabby and as cute
as they come. He seems to have some neurological disease as he was
walking in circles for a while yesterday. TED is treating him with
Kitty Amoxocillin, and keeping an eye on him. We have been given a
bunch of numbers to call if there is a medical problem with either one
of them.
Smokey, or Grayling, or Whatever His Name Is, has an only home. He was
brought into PetSmart at noon today for adoption (they're very pleased
with how well he is doing) and was adopted this afternoon. I didn't
meet his new slaves, but the girls in charge of the cat cages told me
about the adoption. This young married couple came in and the wife
immediately picked up SGOWHNI and loved on him. SGOWHNI purred and
loved back. She looked up at her hubby and said, "Please." He said, "I
don't know." Both wife and cat started crying. The hubby said
something about having a cat, and went off to the interview center to
fill out forms. Meanwhile, wife and cat went to the cat care area and
bought all sorts of toys, bedding, food, litter, and assorted supplies.
I think SGOWHNI picked himself a good set of owners.
Anyway, it's good news for SGOWHNI, and, we hope, for Patchouli and Mozart.

First, YAY for Grayling, or Whatever His Name Is!!!! That was fast,
and wonderful! Second, have fun with the new ones, and purrs for
Mozart that it isn't anything serious. I want to know who ends up
sleeping in Amanda's bed tonight. :)

Your household is great for turning scared kitties into lovebugs for
re-homeing. I hope Mozart's illness is cureable. Purrs,

Awww, wonderful news about Smokey, Grayling, or WHNI - sounds like he got
himself a great home. And what can I say about your 2 newest?! I think you
are awesome, Pam, Rob, Amanda and Mike for all those you help.

Patchouli has had both a name and sex change. We're not sure that the
Haven gave us the right cat, but Calvin, as his name now is (Mandy and
Jim couldn't remember Patchouli) is not a female. He's still skin and
bones and needs a good feeding up before going back to the shelter, so
we'll hang onto him for a while.
Calvin is leery of men and of tall women, but seems to like Mandy and I
all right. I'm not skinny by any stretch of the imagination, but I am
short, and he seems ok with short people. Though I suspect that
miniature hoomins would terrify him right back under Mandy's bed.
He slept with her last night and woke her up purring and licking her
face. Needless to say, he was fed and loved on for a while before the
gooshy food came out and he got to eat the good stuff.
Mozart did the vanishing kitten act last night, but slept with Charles.
This morning Mandy found him so that he could have his antibiotics and
a snuggle with me while I fed him his kitten gooshy food. I've been
feeding both him and Berfert kitten food as they both are skin and bones
and need the calories.
Berfert lost a lot of weight before his dental and is on pain medication
and kitten food to help him gain some weight back. The poor little guy
is so skinny. He's even lost his sense of humor and hasn't been talking
much lately. I'm worried about him too.

Purrs to Berfert and the kittens. Mandy is a good cat slave, or cat
nurse, or maybe just a cat.

Thanks Tak. Sometimes we aren't too sure about Mandy being human. She
has a lot in common with kitties.

Poor Berfert. Putting-on-weight purrs coming over for him as well as for
his worried Meowmie. Purrs for the kittens to bloom in your care. I'm
sure they will.

I told Berfy that his fan club was purring and pulling for him. That
hadn't seemed to help his situation, but news that MRIs is coming home
for Christmas has perked the old fellow right up. He started eating
right after I told him this, and is really purring and happy as Mrike
got in early this morning and is taking care of the little guy.
BTW, Calvin became ill Tuesday and has been taken back to the shelter
where their TED can work on him. We're supposed to be getting him back
(we hope) when he's through the TED treatment.

Thank you so much for taking such good care of these kitties! I agree that
Smokey picked himself really nice slaves, and that wouldn't happen if it
weren't for you, Pam, and your family.
Best wishes,
