I took Bandit to her new TED today (and I was *VERY* favorable impressed
with their entire organization), "Just Cats" in The Woodlands, TX. The tech
was extremely knowledgeable and gentle, the vet was *very* thorough - the
physical exam included checking her temp (with an ear thermometer rather
than a cold glass one up the bum), eye check, ear check, thyroid check,
teeth check, kidney check, "privates" check, heart & lung check, blood
pressure check, and parasite check (with a flea comb). Bandit is a terrible
patient (with a nickname like Bit*h Cat From H*ll, what did you expect?
;>) - but they were not at all afraid to handle her, they did so very calmly
and professionally. They also took blood and urine to check her BUN,
Creatine, glucose levels, etc. All this for only $200 (which for this area
of the country is *dirt* cheap for all that - including comprehensive lab
work!!)
Anyway, please send some purrs that all her labs come back good. She's
almost 15-years-old and the vet said she looked fine, but her heart rate was
a bit fast, which could either have been a fear reaction (since she never
goes much further away than my bed), or it could mean thyroid trouble.
Hugs,

Many purrs coming over for Bandit from my two geriatrics, and my best
wishes.

Purrs for lovely Bandit. My guess is that it was fear. My heart rate and
blood pressure go up if I am in hospital. They call it "white coat
syndrome."
It is pure fear, nothing more, nothing less.

Thank you, Tweed. Yes, I think maybe so - my kitties are terribly
sheltered, they never set foot outside the house, so I think just the stress
of driving to TED and then being prodded by strange people may have caused
her heart to speed up.

Thank you Polonca! I'm thinking they probably will be, she seems very
healthy to me - she was just going to TED today for a 6 months check-up
since she is now considered a geriatric patient and goes every 6 months
rather than yearly now.

I will have the gang send purrs, but if it was just heart rate you can bet
it was from being examined! I'm sure the tests will be great.

Her heart rate could very well be nothing more than vet stress. Purrs
for a great lab report. And congrats on getting a good vet.

That's what I'm hoping, thanks CATherine. Yeah, I *really* like this new

worry that much less).

Purrs on the way. I think the most likely thing would be fear. Snoopy is
nearly 15 and says she's in her purrime.

Thanks Adrian, that's what I'm hoping it was, and it does seem likely - she
was very scared even though she was bluffing it out by growling and hissing
like a demon! ;>
