I think something has happened to Clyde. He disappeared at around
mid-day and I haven't seen him since. He never goes far away and it
will be the first time that Bonnie will be sleeping alone. She has
been searching for him and it is so sad - they have never been
separated. I have a glimmer of hope that perhaps he will be there in
the morning. I'll keep you posted. After losing Ollie I am very
gloomy about him.

Oh no! Get home now, Clyde!
Are there any recently vacated houses in your area, or other places
where Clyde could have gotten himself shut in accidentally? We'll be
sending our best get-home-now purrs.

What steps have you taken to find him? It is important to act as fast as
possible in cases like this. Call all animal shelters and animal control
facilities in your area, post flyers in a *wide* vicinity, contact neighbors
and leave notes at their doors (with your address, phone number, and Clyde's
description), call veterinarians to see if any reports have been made, read
the personal notices in local newspapers to see if anyone has posted a
message about a "found" cat and arrange to have a message of your own about
a "lost" cat placed in the newspaper, leave a bowl of "odorous" cat food by
your door, browse the neighborhood calling Clyde's name, etc. If any
neighbors are on vacation, see if anyone nearby has a key and ask them to
check the garage -- my brother and sister-in-law's cat used to head for a
neighbor's garage, and it would be easy to close the door without noticing.

Purrs coming that nothing bad has happened to Clyde. Have you done the lost
cat things yet - i.e. putting up posters, alerting neighborhood children to
look for him, etc. (I'm sure someone here can post some links to web sites
that have all the tips)?
Hugs,

Last night was awful. We didn't sleep a wink. I kept hearing cat howls
but it was Bonnie sobbing for her mate. They have never been apart
before. It's bad news I am afraid. Clyde hasn't come home.
Yes, I will do the usual things to try to find him but I do it with a
heavy heart. It brings back memories of Ollie. You have no idea how
careful we have been with the kitties. They are locked up all night
(Clyde has never been out at night in his life) and when they go outside
in the daytime we always check them every or or so. Deo is some nine
years old and has been outside every night of his life. He roams
everywhere and nothing has ever happened to him.
I will go all around the nearest neighbours to see if he is locked in a
garage. I think it is unlikely though as he disappeared mid-afternoon,
not a time people go to work or return from work.
Thanks for the good wishes.
Tears from me and Bonnie.

Dear Bev,
A few weeks ago Jason went missing sometime in the afternoon and
returned at 4.00 am, two days later. We have no idea whether he was
away for so long because he got stuck up a tree; someone took him in;
or because something had frightened him and it took him all that time
to decide that it really was safe to come home. I am telling you
about Jason in the hope that you may gain from his story a little
strength.
We continue to send hope, purrs and prayers for Clyde's swift, safe,
return.

Thanks for that bit of hope Sheenah. I have walked all the roads this
morning to make sure he hasn't been run over but there has been another
development. Bonnie raced around the section sniffing everywhere trying
to find Clyde - then before I could stop her she leapt the fence and
took off I know not where. Now there is no sign of her - anywhere.
Cats do have a wonderful sense of smell so perhaps she can trace him.
Alternatively she might go missing too!!

Purrs that Clyde finds his way home. Don't give up, a few weeks ago,
Baggy didn't come home, I was beside myself. I kept going out looking,
eventually at about 1:30am I heard a quiet little meow from my
neighbours garage, he'd got shut in when my neighbour got home from
work.
They say lightning doesn't strike twice. I sincerely hope it's true, I
know what it was like when Ollie went missing. Surely it won't happen
again.

Thanks Adrian, I think I panic so much when the cats go missing because
of Ollie. Not ever knowing what had happened to him was just awful. I
kept thinking it was going to be an exact replay with Clyde.
