I just got an email from my downstairs neighbor letting me know that
her little chihuahua Gracie had to be put down. I've taken care of
Gracie on numerous occasions when my neighbor went out of town, feeding
and walking her, and watching TV in the apartment so I could hang out
with her for a while. She was a sweetie, very friendly and a bundle of
trembling, licking, tail-wagging energy. She always gave me a big
welcome whenever I went into the apartment.

My poor neighbor had to have her other chihuahua put down about a
year ago, and now she has no pets at all. I know that feeling of an
empty home with no animals, and I wonder how long it will be before
she gets another dog, or maybe a cat. (She also likes cats and really
likes Smudge, who often goes down to visit her.) I wouldn't think of
suggesting that now, but I do hope she adopts another pet soon.

Meanwhile, I'll miss Gracie!

Purrs and prayers for your friend (and you) for her loss.  Chihuahuas
just make me want to scoop 'em up and give 'em a big ole squishy hug.

Purrs for your neighbor and, when the time is right, she won't have a
choice, something will just come to her.  At least, that is the way it
worked with me.

I wanted another dog but there were so many to chose from I just couldn't
decide then, along came Sadie and the choice was made for me.

Aww :(  I have a soft spot in my heart for small dogs.  Sammy was a little
dog - 12 lbs in his heyday.  Persia is much bigger than Sampson ever thought
of being.  Purrs for Gracie on her way to the Bridge.

Very sorry for your neighbor - purrs for her -  I'm sorry for your loss,
too, as she sounded like you enjoyed pet-sitting her and she had a sweet
personality.

Poor Gracie.  Purrs for her safe trip to The Bridge and for those whose
hearts have been broken by Gracies going to The Bridge.
Love
