That's for sure. Last night Nanki-Poo came into my room when I was in
bed. Lindy objected briefly, but then quieted down when he ignored her
and came up to me for some skritching. Then he got down and Lindy
started complaining again. When I looked, Nanki was just sitting on the
floor, staring at her. I tried to distract him, but you know how that
goes. I finally had to shut him up in "his" room. I thought I wouldn't
have to do that any more.
This morning I went out into the kitchen and found Nanki-Poo lying
almost up against the cat door, facing it. Lindy was in the windowsill.
She wanted out, and Nanki wasn't going to let her out. The little brat!

Maybe he's just saying, "See how it feels?"
I hope it won't last! Since their power balance seems to be changeable,
maybe it'll settle down.

I certainly hope so! It's ironic to think that I got him mostly so
Lindy would have company when I go to Australia in April.
I had to give Nanki a time out today, because he wouldn't let Lindy come
out of my bedroom. She seems to be afraid of him.

Good luck with this. For the first two days I had Eros, Oscar was "top dog"
... after that she disappeared under the bed, never to be seen again until
Eros left the house. The more I read, though, the more I think there are many
things you can do to help cats get along. I should have done my research
before just barging blithely ahead. Of course, my husband's allergy to
Eros made it all moot, anyway.
There were some articles in r.p.c.health+behav recently about how to encourage
cats to get along ... might be worth some browsing.

Thanks, Monique. I'll check it out.

Nanki is really getting his revenge now that he is feeling better. Purrs
that they both start getting along soon.

Thanks, Marina. I think we all need those purrs.
At least Lindy stood up for herself this evening. Yesterday and earlier
today she seemed totally cowed. This evening I fixed their canned food
and, as usual, put Lindy's dish down first. Nanki-Poo immediately
headed for it. When he was about two feet away, Lindy slapped him
upside the head. He backed off and let me lure him away with his dish.
I don't like the idea of them fighting, but I think Lindy needs to stand
up for herself now and then to make this thing work.
I thought I was all finished with raising kids!
