Hey all,
Sesame was not herself this morning so she's been off to see TED. She has a
bad tooth that is causing a problem with her eye... we have some antibiotics
and some blood was taken so we are waiting for test results now.
Because she is 19 years old TED explained that surgery is more of a
risk...there's a possibility her kidneys may be on the way out so we are
going to find out the blood results first and then weigh up the options.
She's had a little bit to eat and is out sunning herself now. Would very
much appreciate your best purrs.

Aww, poor Sesame. Frank was in a similar situation this autumn, so I
know how you must feel. Many healing and soothing purrs are on their way
to you and Sesame.

Purrs on the way for Sesame. My Bandit is going on 15 and I know how you
worry about them as they age. Here's hoping Sesame's just having a touch of
arthritis and that it's not something serious.

Poor kitty! And poor meowmie as well. Waiting can be the hardest
part. Is she giving you a problem taking the antibiotics? Purrs for
both of you.

Antibiotics weren't too bad, we got one of the "pill poppers" to aim down
her throat.. I have a feeling when she gets more energetic it will be more
difficult! She will be on them for ten days.

I'm glad to hear she's not too bad about the pills. Here's hoping she
stays that way as she feels a little more frisky. My poor Misty was
such a fussy cat about pills and drops that one time when I was giving
her some medicine, she twisted her head so violently that she
dislodged one of her top fangs.
That was the side she used to use to give us "The Fang", which I've
written about before. When she was annoyed with us, she'd let one
upper fang hang down outside her lower lip. She had to learn to give
"The Fang" on the other side.
Regards and Purrs,

Purrs for Sesame. Let us know about the blood test results. Sunning

Purrs for Sesame to get her tooth taken care of without surgery. Can
you brush her teeth? That can help with the infection.

I spoke to TED tonight about brushing which I will start doing daily. I
don't think she will like it much! He also suggested things like raw chicken
wings to clean them. I guess we'll see how she goes with the brushing and
then look at other options if that becomes too stressful for her.

I hope you can do it. I can't imagine brushing my cats' teeth. I think
in most cases it would have to be taught to a young kitten. Bathing,
too. I have heard of raw chicken wigs; but had forgotten until you
mentioned it here. Easier and tastier than brushing. And saves on
Meowmie's fingers!

Raw chicken wings are excellent for preserving teeth, but in my experience
they need to be given from an early age. I had an Oriental cat, who
regularly had her wings, and her teeth remained clean and healthy all her
life. As raw chicken goes "bad" quickly, I used to freeze the wings, and
thaw them as required by soaking them in hot water. This avoided cooking
them and making the bones brittle and dangerous. Marie from OZ
