I saw Jim yesterday so I could ask about Benj.
He's not crossed the Bridge yet after seeming to go downhill for a
couple of days when he came back from the vets he perked up a lot. The
apetite stimulant the vet gave him seems to kick started his apetite-
he isn't eating as much as Jim would like but he's there at mealtimes
yowling like he';s a starved cat again.
Jim was also given antibiotics for Benj as he has a secondary
infection. Jim's hands look like they've been put through an
industrial mincing machine but the vet gave him a pill popper so a
sort of equlibrium has been reached Benj tolerates that as long as an
ebible reward (Hoomin tuna) is given immediately afterwards.
The main thing is that he's doing all the things he likes doing but it
seems that he gets tired that bit easier so he's sleeping more but as
Jim says he's a cat he's always done what he damn well liked so he can
go on doing it until the time comes...at the moment he's enjoying the
Sunny weather and spending a lot of his sleeping time strecthed out on
the balcony catching the rays. He's also playing with Molly again,
when Unka Spider came round he bounced straight onto his lap demanding
skitchies and head butting madly and when the cat from next door his
long time enemy thought he'd take advantage of the situation to come
over to Jim's balcony (Jim has a balcony outside his flat, which is
fenced off so Benj and Molly can pop outside) and presumably mark it
as his territory- Benj sent him packing,
So for the moment he's hanging in there- the vet (sounds very good if
Kylie ever does back down under I shall use him I know a couple of
slaves who use him and they have nothing but praise for him) told Jim
that the option of euthanasia is in his hands but that as Benj isn't
in any pain or suffering he wouldn't recommend it at the moment he
could have a few more good weeks or even a few months left before it
becomes necessary
So for the moment Benj seems to be enjoying one last summer
