Cat hat

Its getting towards winter here and there's a noticable chill in the air. If
Iwas out at night, I'd want to wear some sort of wooly hat.

Suki has felt my need, and for the last two nights, has kindly wrapped her
wooly self around my head to keep my ears warm.

Shmogg never did that sort of thing, so I am really not used to waking up to
a face full of belly fur, as pleasant as it otherwise might be. In fact, its
quite disturbing trying to breathe with a mouthful of fluff, and its doing
abslutely nothing for my cat allergies.

Guess I'd better get used to it, though. She only ges up on my head once I'm
asleep, so can't shoo her off until I'm awake, and bt that time, shes had a
good 6 hours or so of ear warming without complaint.

Strange, strange kitty.

It's nice when they purr, though.  Stinky has always liked to sleep near my
head, if not on or around it.  The first night I had him, I must confess he
gave me a headache finding every possible thing he could get into (no period
of adjustment for that one-- he was a nuisance from the moment his paws hit
the floor), and I was awake thinking "WTF have I got myself into?"  The
little mite popped up on the bed like a little bit of popcorn, climbed up my
chest to my pillow, wrapped himself around my head, and started purring.  I
melted into goo. ;)

Awww, I can imagine it might be hard if you have allergies, but otherwise,
I would love having a head kitty. None of mine do that. (Roxy slept on my
neck when she was a kitten, but when she got bigger, she had to stop, as
she didn't fit there anymore.) Having cat-purr vibrations on your head
must be very relaxing.

But, I'm actually amazed that you can sleep 6 hours in a row. I can't
remember the last time I did that. I guess I'm a far more restless sleeper
than you are. Plus, although I don't get head-kitties, I do get kitties -
walking on me, sleeping on me (and giving me backaches), or meowing about
something or other.

And then there's the disk degeneration in my cervical region, which
causes nerve pinching and makes my hands go numb. During the day, when I
experience the numbness, I can massage my neck and shoulder area until
the pinched nerve gets enough blood and oxygen to get the nerves working
properly and the numbness goes away. But numbness by itself doesn't wake
me up. What happens is, as the nerve pinching continues, it becomes
painful in the referred areas. I often end up having dreams about severe
arm injuries or disease, etc. That always wakes me up, and then I have
to sit up and massage my neck and shoulder for about 20 minutes or so,
until the pain goes away. This happens several times per night. And the
colder it is, the worse it gets. (Probably from muscle contraction.)
During this time of year, it can get cold at night from fog, even if it's
warm during the day.

That's Cleo's job in our house. I never get blessed by a head kitty,
Nancy is the one that Cleo has selected as her bed-person.
