IIRC, when Clinton was president, Socks was the White House Cat.
Cats don't cause war, they only eat mice;)
Were there any other Cats in the White House?
I couldn't find a link, because my internet crashed on me again.
Thoughts?

Susan Ford had a Siamese cat.  There were probably others, but that's the
only one I can remember.

Good question. I can remember many of the dogs in the white house,
Fala, Checkers, Liberty, Millie, Buddy -- , but Socks is the only cat
I recall.

I believe the Bush's have a cat. But not much has been made of it.
The Carters had a cat, too, I think. Teddy Roosevelt had a Polydactyl
cat named Slippers.  But Socks seems to be the only one who got
serious press. =o)

here is a website you may enjoy;

Vladimir Lenin's orange pet cat, if he had been in charge, would no
doubt have nixed the Russian Revolution, ditto Freddie Nietzsche's
philosophy that cats are superior to hoomins in many ways..("God
is dead, etc....").

Our current president has two cats, Rontti (means something like
'b*st*rd cat) and Miska. She has pictures of them, along with her other
pets, at

Miska looks a lot like my Holly.

I have been saying for some time now that I'd much rather vote for a cat
for President than any of the three leading candidates.

I so totally agree Dan.   Whomever 'wins', we lose:(
And thanks to the others who posted the links to the Bush cats.
Much appreciated <G>
