Part of why we didn't take her to the shelter was because she had ringworm and we figured that being a cage would damage her, when we got that cleared up we had started working of socializing her to other animals and us... she was doing great with everyone except Mathew Harold, but he crowded her when she was in the penthouse, he isn't allowed to have contact with the other cats yet. She was doing very well with the others, and was almost warming up to DH and was not running in terror from me, I was just thinking that in another couple of weeks we could take her to the small shelter where she would get good attention, Lee, rambling, I am sorry for that

Perhaps toward the end of the day when it's nearing dark and there are less people around-less "buzz"- she will be calmer and will be more able to hear your voice-?

Stormmee - 19 May 2008 18:32 GMT I was hoping that us sitting on the patio would attract her this morning but no luck, the good news is that this is such a small town she will be safer outside than most other places, thanks for the good thoughts, Lee

Daniel Mahoney - 20 May 2008 15:15 GMT > thank you, no sight of her, we sat on the patio yesterday morning for a long > time hoping DH could catch sight of her, Lee I know she used to be a feral, but could she have chosen to behave like an indoor cat, and gone into "survival mode"? i.e not appearing at all in daylight, staying close to home, only moving when required to hunt or locate water?
I don't know how many stray cats or other critters (skunks, coons, etc) you guys have in your area. Would it be reasonable to put out a dish of food at night, and see if it gets eaten? Man, I wish I had a trail camera to send you guys! That way you could at least find out if she's coming around after dark.

Stormmee - 20 May 2008 17:04 GMT we have massive wildlife, even a litter of raccoons every year, it doesn't matter what we put out it gets eaten, one of the things I do is put all of the out of date stuff from work, minus chocolate, in the yard, it all gets eaten by the next day, there are so many cats, that if I left the back door open I would probably have more in than out in the end... the night before Mathew Harold came in, him and another cat were on the back patio fighting... we thought it was a love dance and MH was the girl... the next night when DH walked onto the patio he came right to him and came in... DH figures they weren't fighting over the patio, but rather who got to come inside, Lee

Granby - 20 May 2008 18:02 GMT Yep, it called "sucker" written across their foreheads. Everytime I hear them say, this is the last, I just smile and think, yeah, until the next one comes along. Good people just can't help they are the way they are.

Don't give up looking for her inside the house too. If she's not feeling well and she's a hidey cat, she could be anywhere inside. Did you check behind appliances, computers, dyers, open all drawers and closets, etc? We once found our sick former-feral in the box springs of the bed.
If she is outside, do you have a garage door you could leave partially open? Sometimes they hang around the house but don't know how to get back in, and don't want to be out in the open like at the front door. We got a dare-devil kitten back once by leaving the garage cracked open.
Good luck,
Rhonda

I am resigned to the fact that she may not return, the way DH caught her in the first place was to leave the front door open, it was very cold, we put the others in the bedroom, left the front door open then he went out the back and came around which spooked her far enough into the house he was able to step in and close the door... she is so blasted smart that won't, I am sure work again, thank you so much for suggestions, I am always thinking, Lee
