Mint is similar to catnip, is it not?

I've been sick with a sinus-something for the last week.  This morning after
Persia's early morning play-session I made myself a cup of spearmint tea
with honey to soothe my throat.  Persia came up, nose twitching like a
rabbit, to sniff the tea.  She was absolutely fascinated by the scent.  She
stuck her face in the mug.  Fortunately she's not one of those cats who
jumps on tables or tips over mugs/glasses.  Otherwise I think she'd have
gotten a face full of scalding hot tea.

I think she likes mint.  Funny, in all the years she's been here she's never
really shown an interest in mint until now.  (I do know the losenges I've
been using for my sore throat are of no interest.)

I think it is related, Jill.  That could be why.

I think a lot of cats do - catnip is a member of the mint family, you know.

Lozenges aren't quite the same thing - it's the dried leaves(tea)  that
attract.

Stink loves anything with a herb-y smell, and mint is one of his favorites.
Since he was a little fellow, he has always hung around while I brushed my
teeth and rinsed my mouth at night, then followed me back to bed, where he
tries to inhale my minty breath.  There have been times when he has used his
paws to try to pry my jaws open so he could stick his nose right into my
mouth.

Herb-y scents in cooking seem to get him absolutely stoned.
