Things are progressing fairly well. Hunter is still confined to his part of
the house (we have a louvered door on the end of our hallway with a couple
of inches of space at the bottom). We've been letting Hunter out only for
short, supervised visits to the rest of the house (he gets his "final"
FIV/FeLV test on the 31st so we're still not ready to progress further yet
anyway until then).
Mostly all the other cats run and hide while he's out - with a bit of
hissing thrown back over their shoulders as they depart, but they're getting
used to seeing him and nobody seems unduly upset - there's no panic and no
attacking on either side.
We also let him out for longer periods with a halter and leash so that he's
confined to the sofa area where Ben and I sit to watch TV - he likes hanging
out with the rest of the family and will lie quietly next to Ben or me. The
others seem to know that he's "safe" when he's on his leash so they don't
even leave the room, they just chill out wherever they're sitting, give him
a few looks every once in a while, and basically don't worry about him being
in the same room with them.
Sammy has calmed down enough so that she doesn't hide under the bed all the
time any more. She and Jessie are both still getting the Homeopet Anxiety
drops and they seem to be working well. The Feliway diffuser also seems to
be doing its job keeping everyone calm. I have great hopes that this will
be an uneventful integration.
We're just keeping our fingers crossed that the final FIV/FeLV test comes
back negative!
