Folks it is fire season again  and we start off with some large ones.  One
near the Humane society in Daytona Beach.  They evacuated and were able to
get all out in plenty of time.  Thank the gods

It looks like many places in the world need our purrs and prayers.  From
North Carolina with tornadoes all the way over to China with earthquakes.

I got in a bit of a disagreement with a lady at work today.  She was
preaching the end of times.  She said so many things never happened at once
in the world.  Well, I contend they probably did but there were not
reporters and satellite links and such to report them all at once.  Yes, you
are right, they all need our prayers.

People like this tick me off.  You want to preach (or hear preaching) go to
church.  Doesn't belong in the workplace.  Bet she's one of those who waits
for The Rapture every time they say it's coming.  So far, it hasn't.

Purrs on the way across the world for whoever needs them.

Jill, I have to tell you something I thought was funny about the rapture.
When I was on my vacation, of sorts, and the earthquake hit.  My thought was
"well is this the rapture"  As soon as things stopped, I saw my Uncle turn
on the light in his room, heard my Aunt open her door.  I figured "well, if
it is, we are all in trouble" So, I got up and went to see what they were
doing.

You want to really scare one of the Rapture waiters?  Come into work and ask
them why they're still here.  When they ask you why, wink and say didn't you
know?  I thought you'd be gone with the rest of them.  Then don't say a word
about it again.  Ever.

Sending our best purrs, Matthew.

Granby, those folks will never be satisfied. People from the times of the
12 apostles have been expecting the end-times within their lifetimes. So
far they've all been wrong :) I agree with you, we're not seeing any more
calamities than have occurred in the past, but we now have CNN and Faux
News, etc to tell us all about the worldwide disasters.

This has been a bad week for sure.  My heart goes out to the people (and
furry friends) in the southern U.S. states and to the people in Burma who
lost everything (many americans know what this is like) and to the people
in China who lost children and other relatives.  I also think on a
regular basis about those who in much greater numbers suffer at the hands
of their fellow "man" day in and day out, people in countries like
Zimbabwe and so many others who don't have the simplest freedoms.  Please
spare some of these poeple your thoughts also.

I SO agree with you Gramby.  I know, there have always been major disasters
and what not, but we are living in 'this' time right now and indeed, these
people and animals NEED our purrs and prayers, and they are sent lovingly.
It's all so sad.

No point whatsoever in arguing with her.

But I'm now older than my Grandfather was when I used to listen to him
preach the end of times.  I'd sit with them in the evening listening to the
news on the radio.  He was interested in it all, but especially news of the
conflicts in the middle east.

How goes the saying, 'the more things change?

But he would be thrilled that he has great grandchildren on the ground
helping in Burma.

Yeah, I heard on Tampa Bay News 9 that Charlie Crist declared Brevard County
a disaster area.  I'm sorry to hear about that, Matthew, but I know we're
next.  We're right next to Polk County and there's always fires there.  Has
I-95 reopened, yet?

Which part  several parts were shut down a while ago

Crist I believe declared Florida in a state of emergency.   They just tested
the broad cast warning system here

I am wondering if they still have me listed on the DART members list.  I
will have to call and see if they need me

I got a lot of woods behind me.  I got to extra long hoses today with a
sprinkler heads so I can lay them on the roof just in case

We just had a fire about 1/2 mile away last week

I wonder if I can go and buy a fire hose since I got a hydrant across the
street just in case.

I saw what was happening in Palm by the house burning with trucks right down
the road.  I am humbled and in tears seeing what happened. I am so happy the
Halifax Humane society acted so quickly and evacuated the four legs to a
safe area.

I did a back up of everything today just in case and got it stored on line
Granby - 13 May 2008 00:08 GMT
Mathew, I won;won't bid on your Mom, mostly because I think Mom's are
priceless, if the fire gets to close, tell her to come for a visit.  She
will be right at home with her gun and pepper spray!

I'm happy to hear about the Halifax Humane Society for sure, but, dang,
we're so dry here in Pasco/Polk County, I'm hoping for a storm, you know
what I mean?  There's no rain in the forecast, either.  Temps down here are
back in the 90 degree range and we're dry.  The lawn is brown, my plants
aren't coming back from the terrible frost we had this winter, we've got
water regulations; it's a mess.

Stay alert, keep your nose in the air, sniff, and protect your little
bitties!

North Carolina got off lightly, relatively speaking.  14 injured 0 deaths
and a ton of house damage.  I saw a car with a plank driven through the door
on last night's news.  Also saw video of a house that had been picked up and
flopped on to it's side.  It was not a mobile house.  Roof was pointed
toward the neighbors on one side and the sub flooring pointing toward the
remains of the neighbor's house on the other.  We got gusts of wind up to 50
mph.  no damage here.

My owners are purring and I am thinking good thoughts for the rest of the
world.
