He spent the night isolated in the bathroom with no light. Had a pill @ 10
PM and I made him swallow some tuna juice from a spoon tipped into his
mouth. He was not amused.

First thing this morning he used the litterbox - the poo was not much, dark
and very loose. I assume the dark color is from the charcoal tablets (I
stopped giving them after the 2nd vet visit).

Next, he got several small syringes with tuna juice and several more with
water, and he fought to keep me from giving it, but I persisted. Then he got
another cephalexin pill. This time it dissolved in his mouth, and he didn't
seem to mind the taste very much. Not like when he had to take this drug in
liquid form and shredded several towels in the process of avoiding it.

His balance is still way off and all he wants to do is sleep. I made a puree
of shrimp for him last night and pushed a bit of it into his mouth. That
went over like a lead balloon with the cat who lives for shrimp treats, but
the rest of the clowder gladly hoovered it up.

Well, at least you're getting something into him.  Purrs are still coming
from my fur-family.

For a few seconds, but it's the first purr I've heard from him in over 48
hours! He also yawned and licked another kitty's head!

Abelard is back.... :D

I am so glad to hear this.

Purrs for his continued recovery.

Glad to hear that he is getting better.  Purrs are still forthcoming
until he is fully back.

Definitely sounds like a sign he's feeling better! :)

Excellent, excellent news!

| Excellent, excellent news!

Here's some more: I got a few ounces of gravy from some wet cat food into
him, and a few ounces of water, and a teaspoon or so of baby food, and
another antibiotic capsule that went down easy and on the first try! He
slept next to me when I took a nap for an hour this afternoon. His balance
seems to have improved just a small bit, maybe 5%. That good enough for one
day. I plan on forcing some more food and water into him before this night
is over.

This sounds very good.  I hope he starts to eat on his own soon.  I imagine
forcing him is unpleasent for both of you.

I am SO far behind on the NG.

I have read all your posts about Abelard.

I'm sorry I haven't sent purrs earlier.

But they are on the way now, and I do hope after your awful TED
experience, Abelard is now on the mend.

Poor boy still sounds very sick, though. I hope every day brings some
significant progress.

Still sending concentrated purrs.
