After Sammy's adventure last night, I took today off work and worked on
repairing the kitty fence. I got the north side of the yard finished,
and was working on the south side. I allowed my attention to wander for
a few moments while I was cutting mesh fence away from mounting posts,
my knife slipped, and I stabbed myself in the hand.

I couldn't get the bleeding to stop, and the wound looked a lot more
gruesome than I'm used to seeing on myself, so I went to the doctor. Got
5 stitches in my hand. I've never had stitches before, other than
following planned surgery. Note to self: don't do that again! OUCH!

Oh dear.  Purrs for a quick healing.  Samuel Redcat should feel
appropriately to blame (but probably doesn't, being a cat and being above
all such things).

For some reason, I didn't see Dan's original post.  Purrs and hugs, Dan.  I
hope it heals quickly and becomes pain-free even sooner.

Purrs for a fast healing.
The DIY wounds are the meanest. They really hurt.

Yikes! Do we have to take the sharp objects away, Dan? :)

(I'm just kidding, hope you know that. Purrs for your hand to heal

Geez Dan!  You really have to be more careful!  Beyond the fact that it
could have been worse your hand is going to hurt like hell, I expect.  Were
you agravated or just inattentive?  I am the worst if I let myself get
agravated at a task.  Anyway I hope I am wrong about hurting and I hope it
heals fast (ya dope :)

No, just inattentive from getting no sleep last night. The local
anesthetic starting wearing off an hour or so ago. This feels *so* not
good. I *definitely* don't want to do that again.

Yeah, cuts on the hand suck.  I think it is all the movement.  I have found
Ibuprofen (Advil/Motrin) to be great for stuff cuts like this.

Try to keep your hand above heart level if you can. It should help some with
the throbing pain. Use ice on it to help withthe swelling.

I'm not a nurse but, Peter has had a number of cuts and stitches. He can
tell the doctor how many stitches the cut will take.

I once stuck a pocket knife most of the way through my hand.  I was
repairing a lamp cord, and had used the knife to strip insulation off the
end of the cord.  It was now time to turn the screws to fasten the cord
to the electrical contacts.  Rather than setting down the knife and
picking up the screwdriver from the table, I attempted to use the dull
side of the knife blade to turn the screws, only to slip and stab
myself.  I didn't end up getting stitches, but I still have a scar on
that hand from the accident 30 years ago.

Well Daniel what can I say.  OUCH
doesn't quite cover it.  Watch really close for infection, take a pain pill
so you can sleep tonight, stare at the cat like you will bite his head off
if he leaves the yard again, give his skretches because you don't fool him a
bit.  Prayers and Purrs for your hand.

I have the beginnings of carpel tunnel in my right wrist.  Wearing a brace
so if misery loves company, have a cup of coffee.

That sounds like something I'd do which is why my husband rarely allows me
