Lesley who has lost her heart to the black and white boy who wouldn't play with a dog and Sooty whose so called slaves expected a year old cat to sit on their laps and purr all day- they'd love mine- it's noteworthy when one of them does sit on a lap for more than 30 seconds

Charleen Welton - 06 May 2008 20:44 GMT Aggie, a feral cat, who was chosen because she is so beautiful (a black and silver tabby) was given away because she wouldn't play with the new puppy! Thankfully she was given to David and me. Charleen, Aggie and Victor

I mean getting a Persian and then dumping the poor cat because no-one had time to brush the coat? Look at a Persian- doesn't it obviously have long hair? Does long hair need brushed?

In Cardiff this weekend a momma cat was left with her 4 kittens tied in a black plastic bag, 5 1 week old kittens were dumped in a bucket, a cat was thrown in the Taff with a birck around its neck, and a dog was set on fire. My own Cleo was taken to the vet to be PTS because she no longer matched the furniture. Fortunately the vet said no.
They're all now in foster care but I hope the scum that did it to them rot in hell for eternity.

But really, these people are IDIOTS. You don't get pets to match the carpet. You don't throw away kids who wet the bed when they're 5 or 6. Won't use the litterbox? Maybe there's a physical reason? Why on earth would someone think to take a cat to the vet?

My cat, Cleo, was taken to the vet to be PTS because she no longer matched the furniture. Their loss, my gain. I also know of a deaf white cat who was taken to be PTS at the vet because the owners no longer wanted a white cat and they were changing the paint decor. I know that story to be true because I was the one who handled the paperwork. (He ended up with the vet and AFAIK is living a long and happy life).
I know of 2 ginger cats who were taken to be PTS because the owner didn't want to pay for them to be neutered and they had started to spray (they ended up in rescue), and I also know of a yorkshire terrier who was PTS because the owner didn't want him anymore, but felt that he wouldn't love anyone as much as her....
The more I learn about people, the more reclusive I become and the more I like my pets.

When my late mother-in-law was getting ready to move into a mobile home, she planned to have her cat PTS. We were going to volunteer to take the cat, but it died before she got around to taking it to the vet. At least that's what she said. She might have realized from our reactions that we weren't happy about her decision (to put it mildly) and didn't tell us she had done it.

Enfilade - 06 May 2008 22:46 GMT Rufus' owner is the only one who does not receive a complimentary Phantom Piddling from Nocturne.
If that person found themselves homeless 3 times, it makes sense for them to try to rehome Rufus while they get their own life together, rather than force the cat to live nomadically along with them.
This is the reason I didn't have any pets during my nomadic years. I can live on people's couches, but I can't ask an animal to, it's not fair to the animal OR the people who are letting me crash with them.
Smokey was alleged to be a "wild animal, a pest, a rabies/disease threat, he messed the garbage and his presence was obnoxious." As a forest dwelling feral the humane society rejected him because they "Don't accept wildlife."

You underestimate how smelly it is...toxic indeed! 2. I think the nukes are for personal slights...next up, The Idiot Who Started The Washer When She Was In The Hall, followed by The Elevator and Anyone In It. 3. It's funny now, when you see Smokey passed out with a santa hat on his head...not so funny when he needed a home asap and various people are telling us he's not adoptable. Honestly, I think Nocturne is more of a eccentric, ideosyncratic, tyrannical handful than Smokey, who pretty much just wants a bite of sandwich, a couch to pass out on and a roof over his head.

It includes cats in glasses, wearing hats, masks, and costumes. I bet some of the pictures that Lori took would qualify as well. I'd love to see a jpeg with Smokey with a Santa hat on.

I just went along to a local college to be a subject for a student video project. I didn't realize until I was sitting in front of the camera that (a) I was wearing dark navy trousers of some synthetic material that built up an incredible static charge and (b) I'd had Splodge on my lap for a few hours last night, part of which I spent dematting his long Persian fur with my fingers.
I was covered in strips and fluffy felty beads of Splodge wool. He is *not* dark navy (though he is probably laid-back enough to be dumped in a dye bath without complaining).
I was in good company, one of the camera assistants had her arms covered in cat cuts. She'd adopted a feral kitten and he was still digging his claws in eight years later. I think she's one of us.

I think she's one of us. Someone asked (I think only half-seriously) why I didn't send my cat to obedience school after I admitted she was the cause of all my scratches.
It took Mandy (RB) a long time to learn that she didn't really need to stick her claws in me when playing or wanting to get my attention.

Back with Frank and Nikki, I sometimes complained that they woke me up early. A woman at work asked, 'can't you just tell them to shut up?'
I said, 'Yes, sure, I can tell them anything. I can talk at them 'til I'm blue in the face, but they'll still do as they please.'

All my present owners were throwaways of one sort or another. Over years I've been to some very strange localities to pick up throwaways/abandoned/strays cats; just to name a few: pricey restaurants, radiologist's office, CT room in my hospital workplace, ER parking lots, fresh veggie-selling truck on street (violence involved there), abandoned neighborhood house, really bad 'hood at night in Miami, large apt. complex in CA next to I680. As for the dingbat hoomins...hopitus believes in gypsy lore..."what goes around, comes around".
