Cat Forum / Cat Anecdotes / May 2008Abandoned Cat (has a good ending!)
John is cleaning out and doing minor renovations on one of his apartment rental units. Long story short, the people he evicted left their black cat! He spotted it when he went over about a week after they left, hanging out on the upstairs deck. It let him pet it (he's not sure if it's a girl or a fixed boy) but then it got freaked out and tried to bite him. So John forgot about the cat and went about the business of cleaning up the mess they'd left. He said the cat had still been hanging around, but mostly hanging back while he did his work. But yesterday he felt so sorry for it when it was on the deck again he went and bought a bag of cheap food and put some out on the deck (water, too). He said the cat walked over, sniffed the food, then ran over to him and started rubbing all over his legs. THEN it ran back to the food and ate like there is no tomorrow! I said, "AWWWWW! Kitty said 'Thank You' first!" :) He's going to try to rehome the kitty. Meanwhile, he'll make sure it has food and fresh water. Shadow is certainly great, he's really been transformed in the last two weeks, much more relaxed. He keeps showing his tummy, I think very soon I won't be able to resist giving it a tickle.
