I got my dad a bottle of Scotch for his birthday and Tyche is curling
up around it, smelling....smelling...

It's not even open!  This is the cat that drank a large portion of a
Rum and Coke when its owner put it down on the end table while
watching TV....only to find Tyche's head in the glass, her tongue
going lap-lap-lap and 1/4 of the drink GONE....

I've also caught her licking the necks of empty beer bottles.

She appears to be stalking the scotch, waiting for her
opportunity...waiting....

telling her father not to open it until he gets home

Stinky is a boozer, too.  When I have a snort, he sticks his nose in the
glass.

When Dunzi was a kitten she tried to drink from beer cans quite often
and even now she will sometimes sniff them- she also used to run off
with cigarette butts in her mouth. We reckoned she was an apprentice
lounge lizard!

Isn't Dunzi the punker kitty? She's a wild one!

Nope Sarsi is the punk kitten..Dunzi after an initial period of
potential lounge lizardry discovered catnip and meditation and now
lies about purring and being one with the universe unless a housefly
comes near at which point she becomes the big black fly hunter. Sarsi
remains enamoured of rock and roll,  occasional destruction ,toys and
loving Daa-dee and has recently started to dig Frank Zappa seriously
which given Dunzi is named after a Zappa track is ironic

Tyche is also fond of coffee. I don't get it, all the others seem to
think both coffee and liquor smell foul.

Tyche is an A.D.H.D. kitten and the LAST thing she needs is caffeine.

And here I thought Princess was the only coffee drinking feline. When
I want the other cats to leave my coffee cup alone, I just hold it
out, they sniff and shake their heads and leave it alone. Hold the cup
out to Princess and she takes a deep sniff, and if it's not too hot
she'll start licking.

Stinky is a coffee drinker, too.  The only thing he doesn't do is smoke, I
guess.  But with him, he's really after the milk in the cup-- her just
tolerates the coffee.

Fortunately, Tyche is not a cigarette fiend.

That'd be Smokey.

Smokey had to quit secondhand smoking when he came to live with us,
though he had a bad relapse during 2006 when my brothers-in-law stayed
with us ;)

Our guys love it when my sister visits.  She always has a glass of wine and
she always lets them lick it off her fingers.

She doesn't have dogs or cats of her own, but ours are crazy about her.

Berfert was our boozer.  It used to make TED so mad because he thought we
were deliberately giving the guy his fix.  When I explained all the
precautions we were taking to try to keep booze, especially beer, away from
the big guy, TED said he understood.  But he kept looking at me with an
expression of mingled disgust and fascination.

Pam S. who really did try to keep alcohol from the cat

Long ago we had a cat that LOVED pina coladas - she would drink and
drink and drink!

Another cat of ours liked coffee - would lap it right out of your cup.

A friend had a sheep dog who like Kahlua.

Cats aren't SUPPOSED to like alcoholic drinks, but I once set a glass of
eggnog (well-laced with brandy) on a coffee table while I went to answer
the phone, and returned to a half-glass of eggnog, and a somewhat
inebriated kitten!

I understand most DOGS are very partial to beer, given access to it.

And I've seen a rabbit get worse for wear on sherry!

Only ten, not twelve?  Which one's do you feel she can do without?

LOL!  Well, apologizing / making amends to all those she's offended is
pretty much out the window - I've never known a cat to feel regret about
anything that didn't cause their own embarrassment or discombobulation.  And
believing in a power greater than themselves is not gonna happen (after all
they were revered as gods in ancient Egypt and have never forgotten that).
Come to think of it - there's not many "steps" that would apply to a cat, is
there?  ;>

A power greater than Tyche slapped her across the face for crowding
the pillow....

...though I don't know how acknowledging Nocturne's divinity will fix
the liquor issue.
