Does anyone know if the Drsfostersmith Premium Plus Omega-3 Gel Caps

http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?pcatid=15235&prodid=30192
&catid=914

is the same as DVM's 3V HP caps?  I know that the dosage is a bit smaller
(it's similar to DVM's new 3V Free Form Liquid for smaller animals)

As per Drsfostersmith:

Mercury below lowest level of detection, less than 100 ppb.

Ingredients: Cold water fish oil, gelatin, glycerin, Vitamin E.

Active ingredients per capsule:
Fish Oil     1000.0 mg
EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid)     180.0 mg
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid)     120.0 mg

It's hard to find the DVM 3V HP products.  They only seem to be sold through
vets or the less familiar online animal med sites.   Buying through a vet
usually means a nice markup.  While Drsfostersmith.com isn't cheap, I have a
feeling that many vets order from them, and they appear to be one of the most
trustworthy animal care sites.

I'm thinking of combining this and Biotin powder as a food additive to try to
control my cat's allergic skin condition.   As some of you may remember, she has a
licky granuloma on her hind legs.  I'm beginning to wonder if this is more psychological
than anything else, because she only licks the same spots over and over again.
I'd like to stop her prednisolone pills as she's starting to get older, and go with a
more natural treatment.

You might want to ping Phil P.  Someone else on this newsgroup was asking
about the omega-3 oils not too long ago. The EPA and DHA values he
recommends are a little lower than the Drfostersmith:  for a 5-10 lb cat the
EPA level should be about 160mg and the DHA should be about 104mg.  He was
talking about this in conjunction with cats with crf--I don't know if it
would be different for skin conditions.  He recommends it for all cats.

That may have been me, Bonnie.   I was using the 3V HP liquid, but it's too
hard to find, and even harder to measure via their pump (1/3 of a pump for
cats).   They now make a 3V free form liquid which is very close to the
Drsfostersmith formula for EPA and DHA.  1 pump of this contains

EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) 160.0 mg
DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) 104.0 mg

which is very close to the Drsfostersmith formula.

The 3V HP snipcaps made by DVM contain much more.   They have 275 mg of EPA
and 175 mg of DHA.   For some reason they say the dose is 1 capsule per day
for small dogs and cats (yet their instructions state this is for an animal
weight of 15-29 lbs.  How many female cats are 15 lbs?
