Charleen was up here visiting her Mom. She and Tak came over for a
visit Sat afternoon. We chatted. Spicey started out doing her Guardcat
duties but chilled after a while. She was actually friendly and
snuggled with Tak. I really enjoyed their visit.

Spicey was *very* friendly! Instead of growls, we were given murps
and small inquisitive mews. Spicey loved rubbing up against
Charleen's ankles, and she sat on my lap and snuggled in the crook of
my arm for a couple of minutes. Then, she took a swat at my hand and
jumped off, but then almost immediately came back to stand on my lap
and sniff my face, looking up at me with a tiny tortie face and big
greenish eyes.
Suz said that I might have had more of Buster's scent on me than
usual, which Spicey found attractive. I do admit that he's the more
scented cat of the two I have. I think his head smells like toasted
coconut and his body smells like fresh grapes, if you sniff carefully.
I get an impression of keen defensive intelligence from Spicey. When
she watches and approaches cautiously, then cuddles, runs away, and
comes back, you can see the little cogs turning in her head making
split-second decisions based on attack trees, mental simulations, and
what-if analyses. It is very cute the way she assigns you a threat
rating and treats you accordingly. Yesterday, for whatever reason,
Charleen and I were level "green". :)
Charleen was still very very sad about Four, and her own mother's
health has been deteriorating particularly rapidly too. But she was
so very grateful to everyone who was so supportive of Four. She kept
everyone's posts and emails, and she said that they numbered hundreds.

Toasted coconut! That's kind of like how Licky smells. He has a very
distinctive and pleasant odor. I've thought of it as kind of a subtle
"nutty" smell. Never smelled anything like that on a cat before. Roxy
doesn't have any discernible odor, and Smudge sometimes smells fresh
and outdoorsy, except if it's raining out, and then she smells like a
wet dog - er, cat.
