Hi All,

I don't get to post nearly as much as I'd like (RL is a b*tch that
way!) and didn't get my act together to join in with the card
exchange, so I am taking this opportunity to wish everyone on this
remarkable group a very happy festive season, regardless of religious
(or non-religious) persuasion.

I try to read the group every day and send silent purrs to those who
need them and ooohs over cute Roscoe and Nico pics and ahhs over
sprightly Francis antics, Nina and Cesca frolics, and mentally boop
the Hube, as well as all the others (whose names I've forgotten).  I
was most impressed by 'Nipped and 'Napped's house!

It is 40C (well over 100F) here today and, if this is an indication of
the summer to come, we'll be eating an all-cold-food-feast on
Christmas day!  Last Christmas, our first in Sydney and our first in
this house, it was almost 100F, so DH and I went for a swim in our
dam.  This year we haven't had enough rain and our dam is an
unpleasant shade of duckpoo (the wild ducks love our dam), so we won't
be swimming again until after we've had a lot of rain to flush it out
(I call it the salmonella swamp right now).

OBcats: Ted, with the wisdom of her 18 years, copes with the heat by
finding a shady spot and not moving around.  The kittens (at 2 years
old) have less experience and still insist on zooming around, then
flaking out in unlikely poses. Spocky loves to lie on his back with
his legs to the compass points.  Persephone is, frankly, too fat to do
this with any comfort, so she lies on her side and streeeeetches out
as far as she can.  There are some up-to-date pics of the gang at
http://photos.yahoo.com/~tsilberb in the cats and dogs folders.

Hugs to all and season's bleatings - I'm in Australia, after all  :^)

Awww the kids are looking really good! Boy, Spock has the most unusual
coloring!! Good hearing from you :)
Tish Silberbauer - 29 Nov 2004 08:49 GMT
Thanks to y'all ("youse" in Australian) for your kind messages.
Persephone's head is swollen now  :^)
I never thought of Spocky having an unusual coat pattern until Yowie
visited and commented on it.  I think his coat is cool because it is
two-coloured - the external tip of each hair is dark and the internal
shaft of the hair (the bit that doesn't get exposed to extremes of
temperature) is buff / beige.  I've never seen that on a moggie before
- my two-tone kit.

I'm kinda envious hearing about all the snow in the northern
hemisphere - I would love to experience real snow one day!  They are
forecasting a maximum temperature of 42C (107F) for Sydney tomorrow,
with wind as an added bonus.   yuk!  And my building doesn't have air
conditioning (or heating, for that matter, but that's not such a
problem).

You have my sympathy.  That is a nasty lot of heat, especially with no
air conditioning!  I hope at least it's a dry heat.

BTW, I'll be in Sydney for a couple of days next April.  Maybe we can
touch base while I'm there.

Hi Joy,

I certainly hope that we can meet up while you're in Sydney.  My email
address is tsilberb at bio.mq.edu.au, if you would like to contact me
closer to the date to make arrangements.

Cheers,
Tish

Joy has said that she'll be visiting Sydney in April, so might we use
her arrival as a trigger for a Sydney RPCA get-together - Yowie? Jean?
Any others?

We could meet somewhere reasonably central, or I'm happy to volunteer
my place in the boondocks (Campbelltown) if folks are willing to
travel.

It would have to be a weekend, though, because of work committments.

Whaddya think?

Wow!  I'd love that!  I'll be there on weekdays the first time, but I'm
flying back into Sydney on Saturday, April 30 and will spend the night
there before flying home.  So that Saturday evening would be perfect
from my POV.  If that doesn't work out, I hope you'll go ahead and do it
anyway.  Meets are a lot of fun!

Hi Joy,

There has not been much of a response (well, none to be accurate), but
you and I can certainly meet up.  My house is quite convenient to the
airport rail line, so I'm sure we'll figure out something fun.  Spocky
is quite the tart with visitors  :^)

I don't know why I didn't see this before - I saw it on Catslaves but not
here - but yes, I'll do everything in my power to be there too. No doubt the
Yowlet will be in tow, and Joel may or may not be there as well, depending
on how the mood strikes him on the day.

Saturday *afternoon* would be OK, but don't want to do late evenings
(specially if anyone wants to meet the Yowlet, he's in bed by 7:30pm)

What I can do, however, is host a meet-up at my place (happy to transport
people from the trainstation), or relocate said meet-up from Sydney to
Wollongong.

I can understand why you don't want late evenings, especially with the
Yowlet, whom I'd love to meet.  My flight doesn't get into Sydney until
2:50 PM, and I'm not sure how much longer it would take me to get to a
meeting place.  However, as I've said before, I'd love to meet all of
you - and see you again, Yowie - but if that doesn't work out, I hope
you have the meet anyway, because they're so much fun.

intimate place, but it sells coffee and cake, and its not like its hard to
find.....

Fantastic Jean!  It will be great to meet you in real life!

I'm sure we can persuade Yowie to join in too (I would imagine that RL
is keeping her busy).

You're a sweetie Jean.  Knowing the intent is there is enough for me.

Best wishes for the season to you, too, Tish! The pics are lovely. Spock
and Persephone look so sleek and happy, and Ted seems to have the same
hobby as Frank. I suppose they're entitled, at their ages.

Best wishes back atcha, and Hube asked me to tell you that he
appreciates the mental boops.  :-)

Yahoo seems to be acting up and I can't get past the album covers
page, but I've bookmarked your pics to see later.
